The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was pleased when the presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama, called on him and his chiefs at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The king said that Mahama's visit to his palace shows that the former president and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have no issues with Manhyia as previously asserted.

"Some of my people have been thinking that you (the NDC) are quarrelling with Manhyia because you have not been here. When your running mate visited me, I asked her whether the NDC did not want to come and greet me because she was selected before NAPO but was not introduced to me first.

"Today, you have said for everyone to hear that Manhyia is your home," the Asantehene said in Twi.

Otumfuo said that his palace is open to every group and plays a role in choosing Ghana's leaders.

He urged Mahama to continue telling the people of Ghana what he had done and what he intended to do when given the nod to lead the country again.

The king prayed for the election to be free and fair for the will of Ghanaians to prevail, adding that the election should be won at the polling station and not by machinations.

He went on to bless the former president and prayed that God grant his wish.

Mahama was accompanied by leading members of the NDC from the Ashanti Region, including former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Betty Mould-Iddrisu, former Commissioner of Police Kofi Boakye, and the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi.

During his remarks, the NDC presidential candidate told the Asantehene that he was there to ask for his prayers and blessings ahead of December 7, 2024, as part of his six-day campaign in the Ashanti Region.
