... Kufuor Blows ¢15bn On Award Medals
President John Agyekum Kufuor spent a whopping ¢15billion cedis on Gold medals he procured from a British jewelry company for his recent controversial National Awards. According to documentation obtained by The Enquirer newspaper, the President spent over ¢666m on his personal medal which was made of 18 carats yellow and white Gold.

Surprisingly, even though President Kufuor stated that the Award of Grand Order of THE STAR AND EAGLE OF GHANA division was for him and Jerry Rawlings alone, documentation has revealed that he ordered as many as 5 medals.

Each medal cost 33,000 pounds which is equivalent to ¢666,000,000. In all, the five medals cost the nation over 165,000 pounds.

During the award ceremony, only one person was given the award. That person was the President, meaning that 4 of the medals which cost 132,000 remained unused. Details of the President’s medal also indicate that even the Collar Chain Sash was asked to be in 18 carat gold.

According to documents sighted by the Enquirer, the company which grabbed the juicy contract is called CLEAVE & COMPANY INTERNATIONAL located at an address given as 26 New Street, St. Helier, Jersey. The company has a slogan – ‘court of jewelry and medalists’. The medals contract was under the name ‘Ghana National Honours’ with the contract Number given as 5742.
