Once they got appointed as managing directors and Commissioners they just stole. Not different from what it is today. Read Mike Oquayes book on June 4th and you would appreciate the problem at the time. Many young people like you confuse June 4th with 3st Dec because like two movies with the same protagonist you take both as the same. Why did the professional bodies fight the soldiers in power through 1977 to 1978 leading to the ultimate June 4th. It is a pity there were the executions. Even before the June 4th coup, Acheampong had dismissed his CDS, General Okai and Air Vice Marshall Beausloeli for corruption. The SMC was know as Supreme Money Choppers. Acheampong feared the student movement to the extent NUGS put pressure on him not to allow the US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to visit Ghana. Because of Acheampong's corrupt administration NUGS had a hold on it
