  'The Gay star....?' It's good that National Anthem was discarded else the LBQTCM or whatever would have hijacked the anthem a ruin Ghana with their dripping bum-holes.

  2. I, Michael Kwame Gbordzoe was never a student of the late Philip Gbeho. I attended Bishop Herman College, Kpando, and did the 6th Form at Adisadel College, Cape Coast.
  3. The three stanzas of the national anthem which I wrote, started to be used under the Regime of the National Redemption Council led by the late General I. K Acheampong of blessed memory.
  4. In an Interview with the late Col. Paul Nkegbe, the then Commissioner of Education under Gen. I. K Acheampong, the Colonel asserted that the NRC Regime chose the lyrics that I wrote on account of it's merits.
  5. The new lyrics starting with "God bless our Homeland Ghana" were never intended to "spit" the great Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah" the most distinguished African political leader of the 20th Century.
  Rather, the lyrics (especially the second and third) highly reflect the sentiments of Dr. Nkrumah's "One Great Nation, one common destiny", embedded firmly in Pan-Africanism" and African Unity.
  6. I Michael Kwame Gbordzoe (Dr. Sc.) am in my 80s but still alive through the Grace of the Almighty.
  7. Those who want to post important items on Ghana on the Internet must first do their homework, contact the right sources and stop falsifying the history of our beloved Motherland.

  Thank you sir! The penchant to destroy Ghana's history has been a great agenda for some time now. The hypocrisy of denying Nkrumah his life efforts to making Ghana a great nation has been waged by his detractors since his overthrow in 1966. No doubt they deliberately burned out all that could be traced to his name and make the historical facts clearer to the future generations of Ghana. The agenda to destroy Nkrumah is never dying in this country. How can the history books of our junior schools be authored and described Nkrumah as a dictator and a voodoo man in this era of our history?

  Further clarification after my short comment:
  1. The writer of the Article does not seem to have brought out clearly the difference between "composing" the musical notes of Ghana's national anthem and the "lyrics'' (the text or words) that are sung to the musical notes.
  2. While no one disputes the historical fact that the late Philip Gbeho composed the musical notes, the historical fact is that Philip Gbeho's proposed lyrics starting with "God our father we praise thee", or something similar, were never chosen.
  3. In clear terms, "Lift high the flag of Ghana",
  The gay star shining in the sky, et ce tera, were not authored by Philip Gbeho.
  4. I have been interviewed by an appreciable number of Media Houses in Ghana since the 1990s on the subject matter of the national anthem over and over again: Notably, ASEMPA FM, CITY FM, JOY FM, GBC. TV AFRICA, GHANA NEWS AGENCY.
  5. THE GBC & THE GHANA NEWS AGENCY interviewed also the late Col. Paul Nkegbe, a member of the NRC Regime under Gen. I.K. Acheampong, on the subject matter of the lyrics of the anthem and the pledge, which I also wrote for the NRC Regime.
  6. The late Col. confirmed that both of us met numerous times at the Ministry of Education when I came to Ghana in 1973 to meet officials of the Regime in my capacity as President of the Ghana Students Union in Europe.
  7. The so-called "controversies" on this subject matter were resolved long ago.
  8. The PRAAD (FORMERLY CALLED THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES") and STATE PROTOCOL have not been very helpful with their records on these issues.
  9. Ghana should endeavour to keep and manage historical records properly and efficiently for the future generations.
  Michael Kwame Gbordzoe (Dr. Sc.), Author of the current lyrics of Ghana's national anthem ("God bless our Homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong - all 3 stanzas), and Author of the national pledge: "I promise on my honour to be faithful and loyal to Ghana my Motherland".

  The article was written by the journalist with the initials BAI/OGB.. I hope Dr Gbordzoe, will write a formal complain to Ghanaweb. The misinformation on Ghanaweb is too much. And, it makes you wonder why their infantile journalist fail to cross check certain simple facts. Last week, they told ex Major Boakye Djan was born in 1952 in the middle of the second world war. How can any journalist write nonsense like that?

  3. This statement is to give credit to Philip Gbeho that even if he didn't write the current inspiring lyrics of Ghana's national anthem, it was a student of his who did it.
  4. The earlier Ghanaians learn to give credit where credit belongs, and acknowledge the outstanding contribution of individuals amongst us to our history, the better it is for our mother Ghana.
  5. It is high time the Ministry of Education saw to it that the school children, the students of our Institutions and the Ghanaian people in general are properly educated on the fact that the author of the current lyrics of Ghana's national anthem (GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA, all the 3 stanzas) and the pledge ( I promise on my honour to be faithful and loyal to Ghana my Motherland) were written by a young man Michael Kwame Gbordzoe who became a scientist by profession.
