Even Kufuor, in all his NPP and its predecessor traditions did not go on such a mad, stupid tradition. The right independent identities of these institutions must be restored. How does that restire economic growth. Even our experienced politicians in opposition are already power drunk, full of anger and high sounding emotional. No critical thinking, not even sober relection. How does a renamed university restore economic growth, create jobs for university graduates, improve the quality of education and reducing the financing burden for parents and students in harsh times. Zero but our politicians are masters of inciting hatred until their own failures and lack of ideas become manifest in the next elections, after the anger has subsided and reality sets in.

The UDS was built using the hangar award won by JJ Rawlings as the seed money, it was under Rawlings that all the 10regions in the early 90s were provided with Polytechnics each, some of which were technical schools before their conversion, it was also under Rawlings that about 270 Science resource centres were built across the country for the SSS programs, now SHS. Now come the Universities , Winneba was a training college converted to University under Rawlings, and UMaTs and UHAS. These Vars were name to reflect their core functions and neutrality for unified Ghana, not to set agenda for self-agrandisement. Halls and lecture theaters and libraries may be named after personalities who so deserved but not to name national edifice over divisive partisan political actors, that would set a tone for unnecessary rivalry , jealousy or targets for destruction in times of political turmoils. UDS, Tamale campus used to exist as Nyankoala Agric college long before P(NDC) so when did NDC build that university?
URNR, Sunyani, existed as school of forestry long before NDC, then it was taken over by KNUST as college of renewable natural resources, then later converted to University of Renewable Natural Resources, so NDC didn't build that university, they only converted an existing school or college to an university so they didn't build it
The Kumasi campus of university of education, Winneba, existed long ago as Kumasi Technical Teachers college (KTTC) before NDC, so are you saying NDC built that before NDC was given birth?
Tarkwa school of mines was also in existence before NDC, so when did NDC build that university?
So to tell Ghanaians the truth, NDC hasn't built any university, but they make so much noise that they've built universities. NDC must come out to tell Ghanaians one university they built from the scratch. Converting existing schools to universities is far different from building universities.
The university of health and allied sciences in Ho was built by Kuffuor as a nurses training school which they converted to an university, but they come to say they have built an university without giving credit to the NPP government which built it for them to convert.

Ask your self what will the renaming of a university do for the lecturers, student and parents. It's cost very little and would change nothing but to an angry man it seems like punishment to deny Akufo his wish. It won't pay lecturers better, it won't improve quality of university education and campus life, and it certainly won't reduce the cost of university tuition and fees, and last but not it wont graduate even one job for a singe graduate who finishes school in 2025 to 2028. Akufo will also not weep about it in retirement. After all it can be renamed again and again by like minded leaders. All it will do is give Mahama and escape route from tackling these major issues, the honeymoon he so desperate wants whilst he spends on the roads and buildings he prefers to showcase as "development"

Many reputed universities in Europe & America have maintained their established names without changing them though most of them are named based on the location, programs, or who pioneered it's establishment. For instance, University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill, has many braches per programs being offered in the state but all tie to the main campus. So we have names such as UNC, Charlotte, UNC, Greensboro, etc, University of Washington has 3 branches named per its locations but all bears University of Washington.

Is Mahama aware that all the Public Universities in Ghana were mostly started before 2004? University of Ghana was initiated and built around 1948, KNUST, 1949, Cape Vars, 1971, UDs, 1998, etc etc . Ndc was formed in 1992 so when did Ndc build any of the Universities in Ghana. All the Technical Universities were formally PolyTechnics which were in existence before 1970s and were just registered as Universities by the Ndc. Shame unto Mahama for lying to Ghanaians

President Kufuor built NHIS from scratch with branches in every district. NDC changed the names of intervention programs Kufuor did and nearly destroyed all including NHIS.

Same with Jubilee House. President Kufuor sourced for funds from Indian government to build it. The land includes what used to be Accra zoo. The old Flagstaff House built by President Nkrumah was renovated by Kufuor and still sit on the grounds of Jubilee House complex hbut NDC changed the whole edifice to Flagstaff House.

Ghanaians should resist any attempt to call Jubilee House Flagstaff House.

It will also prompt those Kings to pay more attention to the upgrades and further developments of them.

For example: the one situated in Kumasi could be name after the king of that kingdom. "H.M Prempeh-Osei Tutu University.

If there's one in Tamale, it could be named "University of Dagbon or whichever is the best for their common good or social cohesion.

In the Volta Region, there're many options as well because we have some notable kings over there as well.

If there's one in Dormaa we could name it after the Dormaa King or overlord.

You go to Oti Region the same story or approach, Western Region the same, Wa, Central ect ect.

Another way also is to name at least one of the many unis after their various Regional capital names because majority of them are found in the Regional Capitals.

Another school of taught is that, we could at least name of of the unis in the UER or UWR after the late H.E Dr. Hilla Liman.... and even other notable incorruptible past presidents. My only problem is that, in Ghana,
