I think we misunderstood Kweku Baako, when you listen to his submission carefully, he's not against restoring the original names but he rather advising that it's not proper to speak out such plans because it may have negative impact. Exp: some members from those families may not be happy because they might think JM will downgrade their family values and so therefore will decide to vote against JM instead. Well, I will do same by voting against anyone who has intentions of downgrading my family name so let’s for once agree with Baako and rather bashing JM speech handlers to be careful of what they propose at this crucial moment.

Changing the names to neutral names is something some of us have hoped the NDC will do and I'm very happy Mahama has promised to do so. Naming state institutions should NEVER become part of the patronages political parties dole out to their members, or individuals like they dole out money-laden envelopes to their delegates. Unfortunately, that became the norm under the NPP, with some building facilities with public funds and naming them after their mothers! It was enough to make me puke!

I however agree that Mahama was ill-advised or even never received any advice in making this pledge at this juncture, for such matters ought to be held back until one wins the election. Mahama clearly needs to confine his promises to matters that are more pressing for Ghanaians at this stage, and not get carried away by making daily promises based on every act taken by Akufo-Addo that he thinks will be music to NDC ears. Some folks keep forgetting that little statements can change political fortunes in a matter of days, hence the need to think carefully through things before spitting out promises. Can put fresh meat on a grill that will not be lit till seven hours later.
