Mahama entered into PPA's with several foreign companies like KARPOWER, AMERI, Ect, by which his administration signed "Take or Pay" agreements for power and water supply, which we are paying US$500million every year for power we haven't used. The tariffs for power produced by these companies are so expensive that the excess power generated can't be sold to neighboring countries, so we must pay for it even when we don't have use for it. Such is how Mahama is. And he also inflated the prices of several projects to his personal benefit. Kumasi Airport Runway US$29m, Kotoka Terminal 3 US$300m, Ho Airport, Nkrumah Interchange US$260m, Saglemi Housing US$200 for 5,000 units reduced to 1,200 units for the same contract sum, AMERI plant from US$360m to US$510m, Komenda Sugar Factory from US$18m inflated to US$35m and many many more.

Now, Kwame, what are the chances that if you get money, you will buy another car or buy fuel to use the car that you already have?
Commonsense says that you will buy fuel to run the car you already have. The analogy I have given you is what Mahama did. Instead of paying Nigeria to give us gas to power the plants we already have, he rather, signed another power agreement which Ghana is currently paying $500million a year debt, make sense?

Dumsor occurred because government could not sustain funding to keep power consistently only! Ghanaians attained that only after the NPP had taken over! The Akosombo Dam was not the solution for dumsor. Nor was it the fact that Mahama had ordered new power generators, whether he had paid for them, which was doubtful, or not. If it was the NPP who provided funding to keep power generation on-going, then they can claim to have resolved dumsor, irrespective of whether or not NPP had also augmented the power generation capacity, because it is the mandate of every government to add to the generation capacity if that becomes necessary. NDC must spare us these belated lies, because throughout the first four years of the NPP government, we never heard any such claims by the NDC.
