Joe Wise have every reason to bemoan moral decadence by the youth but Politicians must partly take the blame. Politicians of the like of the current Speaker Alban Bagbin take advantage of their previlage position to persecute and destroy many youth. Tyrannic and oppressive brutalities against the youth that have not just in his constituency but in the upper west region that have seen many died or maimed are well documented. People like the late Roger Ansongmwine was tortured to death by Alban Bagbin just because he attempted contesting him in an election within the same NDC Party. The late Dr. Francis Banka was equally molested and tortured to death just because he disagreed with Alban Bagbin in a chieftaincy dispute. Dr. Boye Bandi and Professor Debaga have equally been victims of persecution and oppression using political power by Mr. Bagbin. Dr. Francis Ibrahim who is currently fighting his case in the Human Rights Court in Accra was brutally victimized with an unlawful dismissal at the orders of Mr. Alban Bagbin as then Health Minister in 2012. This brilliant young doctor nearly died and have to beg and depend on alms for survival for 6 years untill the torture under the cover of darkness spearheaded by Mr. Bagbin was exposed by an Investigative Journalist. The refusal of the young doctor to withdraw his case from Court amidst death threats by Bagbin and his associates has made him a victim of all manner of maltreatment by the system currently with his allowances +other remuneration, promotions withheld, overt torture at work setting by Superiors. He even had his license recently suspended at the instance of the Speaker by Dr. Divine Banyugbala, the Registrar of the MDC who is a lodge brother of Mr. Bagbin with the Knights of Marshalls. This young promising doctor did nothing to Mr. Bagbin. If anything all, the Speaker perhaps targeted him because of his own guilt of dubiously consfiscating his family lands through fraudulent processes for his commercial farming activities in Welembele. The truth is that the wickedness and diabolism of some Politicians of the likes of Mr. Bagbin leaves the youth with no choice but to fight back and salvage their lives from their evil shackles. The dynamics in Southern Ghana who are more development oriented compared to the relatively marginalized and deprived northern sector may be different concerning the conduct of Politicians in general. Nonetheless, problems arise because the youth are well aware Politicians are generally corrupt and exploitative and will always demand their pound of flesh fairly or unfairly. The situation becomes worse when you have corrupt Politicians doubling as tyrants like Mr. Bagbin, the current Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, who oppress and brutalize the very constituents and citizens who empower
them. What I find extremely disingenuous and callous is the very politician oppressing and torturing subjects using their previlage position of power and wealth, to engage in malicious propaganda to smear the youth as disrespectful just because they are resisting oppression to enforce their fundamental human rights, that is violated with blatant impunity by the Politician, who think he is all too powerful and all known, not to be contested in the midst of all the wrong things done to the citizenry. Indeed, the saying that, power corrupt, absolute power corrupt absolutely is very much applicable to the African and for that matter the Ghanaian Politician. The Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Bagbin, Joe Wise boss is a walking embodiment of that. It is common knowledge that he is a tyrant, an oppressor and autocratic figure who have destroyed, maimed and murdered many viable youth with immense potential. Actions of that sort create miistrust and a generational gap between the youth and elderly, particularly Politicians who are viewed as selfish, self-centered and inward looking elite who don't have the development of the youth and country at heart. The fact that Joe Wise abdicated his seat to allow a young person to take over is a demonstration of good will to his constituents. Alban Bagbin never did that, in serving as MP for decades in Nadowli-Kaleo until he got the opportunity to hop into the position of Speaker of Parliament. One can be sure he would have held onto the Nadowli-Kaleo seat fiercely, with all the vindictive and diabolic tendencies to have stranglehold to power till eternity, without giving the youth of his constituency any opportunity.

You are running away from your constituents instead of getting nearer them to let them know what it means to be a citizen. This country is in a mess because after independence, Ghanaians were not educated on our civic obligations because we were made to believe the government was going to do everything for the people. Sir, it’s not too late. Don’t resign. Stay put and do your job. EDUCATE THEM so they will change their attitude about the governance of the country.
