Can John Dramani Mahama cross his heart and tell the world that, there never were any incidents of cheating at WASSCE examinations during his tenure as President? Can any honest Ghanaian say that never have some WASSCE, GCE O'Level, and GCE A' Level papers been cancelled in the past, even as far back Dr Nkrumah's era, for examination mal-practices? What kind of politician at all is this John Mahama? Has his desperation for power overtaken his senses so much that he finds it politically wise to downgrade our children's educational standards in the eyes of Ghanaians and the world at large? Is he ascribing cheating to all the brilliant SHS students who have obtained excellent grades under the Free Education system? I am not a fan of the NDC and their flagbearer, but what he said about the wassce result is nothing but the truth. The students who wrote the exams know it is the truth. The schools and their teachers know it is the truth. Examiners who marked the exams scripts know it is the truth. Because of politics, people no longer accept the truth. But as Mahama said, the effect will be seen later.
