The main challenge I anticipate is how the various transport systems are going to share the money. Since it's a card being operated centrally the money gets pulled to a centre and then distributed to the various transport providers.
Research needs to be done in other countries who are currently operating such systems and maybe consider how we overcome some of the genuine concerns of GPRTU

So it's not like immediately you tap, the charge is made. This will be a pay what you ride feature.

I mean there are a lot of app designers all over the world including Ghana that can develop an app for trotro and taxi and these operating systems are now easy to be made!

Again, the operating systems will involve using DEBIT/CARD or even MTN on your phone linked to your debit card or your credit card!

Am not saying these things can be done immediately but it’s the fundamentals now and as time goes on, we can have APPLE PAY or even MTN OR even GOOGLE pay in Ghana that can be linked to these operating systems for trotro or cabs and this is what bawumia DIGITALIZATION sort to achieve in the long run!!

The man has laid a solid foundation for us and is about time we all explore ideas to carry this noble and innovative system forward!!

Without a designated stop, one cannot drop nor pick a passenger. Just like Europe and other developed countries, one goes to the stop no matter how long you will walk to the stop. So if we have designated stops, this Bawumia initiative will work even in trotros. What I know is that, in Ghana if one is bringing good initiatives, you will always find some people to bring that person down. Abas Moro should rather support this initiative fully and can add his ideas instead of saying categorically that it will not work. Digitalization is the way to go.
