To have compared a demand for Western-like education and development to what Africa had in the time period you quoted above, and totally ignoring what development meant in terms of education and all in that time period is not only anachronistic but also an exercise in selective ignorance.
Asante (and by extension Africa in general) had its own form of education and system of transmitting it.
If the Kings of the time had prevented that from running then there could be a good argument against them.
If not, then don't let us compare what we have today to what pertained then and suppose we ought to have seen same back then.

It means that Asante was trying to see herself as though she were above the country of Ghana. Mind you, Nkrumah was so intelligent to understand the implications of the visits when he laid out the policy to transform the mindset of our foremost farmers and to improve their lots.

Even though Prempeh understood Nkrumah at first but he (prempeh) was only one man, and his advisers did not give good counsel. Culminating those events, was the obvious hatred hatched by Asante towards Nkrumah when Nkrumah would not allow Asante to abuse the Bono people. Coupled with the fact that the usurper, JB Danquah, also compounded the issue by deceiving Prempeh,.

Now asanteman deceives its population by saying that Nkrumah hated asanteman when it is rather the opposite that is true. This is the hypocrisy of Asante.

The cocoa Farmer's had present a proof for scholarship whilst those up north just had to show where they come from or just be at the north to enjoy free education.

These gallant farmers did well for Ghana.

Kudos to Asante Cocoa Farmer's whose labor went a long way to make people believe in Nkrumah for developing Ghana.

There was a huge migration to the forest regions to farm cocoa, hence Ga settlements in Eastern Region like Duadekyean, Ntoaso, owuraku, Pampamso, Daanumnorshi, Otwe near Mangoaso, Adjeikrom where Ako Adjei was born, Adubease, a place called Accra in Ekorso and several areas in other parts of Ghana. Cocoa was a national project that several rich Ghanaians invested in and one tribe can't claim ownership of it.

Cocoa farmers have been cheated in this country for far too long. Accra Sports Stadium if was built in the days of Nkrumah might have been built from cocoa money. Meanwhile when Kuffour named it after Ohene Djan the Gas were instigated by the NDC to kick against it. Kumasi Sports Stadium was named after Baba Yaara at the same period but the Ashantis never objected to it. Today the Ada's are up in arms for government extracting salt in commercial quantities in their side of the sea. They don't agree that, the state should own part of the revenue from the salt extraction. They have forgotten that the road from Accra to Ada was not financed from money from salt. They don't know that their hospitals and schools were built from money realized from other minerals and coacoa obtained from other parts of Ghana. All these misunderstandings are engineered by the NDC.
