  Parliament has a mace and a replica. The mace is kept at BoG and is used during important occasions such as opening and closing of Parliament as well as when the President addresses Parliament. On all other occasions, the replica is used. The reason is simple. The mace, the symbol of authority has a lot of gold on it.
