Today, they are even forcing to make themselves relevant as heroes - on the same parallel as the Founder of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, in the events leading to the struggle for independence. Not only that, but, they are so shameless that, they are even celebrating the event with the true Patriots of Ghana and Africa.

Unquestionably, Paa Grant formed the UGCC and invited all other subsequent members to join this august body that heralded the gaining of independendence from the despots. The stage was thus set for the political independence of Ghana.

Today the incompetent misfits whose only expertise is to reap where they have not sown, have the audacity to superimpose the names and non-performance of traitors and treacherous common thieves above those of the true Founders, liberators and heroes of Ghana.

Today, under the most corrupt and disgraceful stain of the Akuffo Addo govt, the monumental national and international accomplishments of Kwame Nkrumah are reluctantly mentioned in passing whilst the name of Paa Grant, the man who started it all, has been unfairly laid to rest in the back-burner.

History always goes with markers. The name Tetteh is not original to Akuapem, it was only when they mingled and traded with the Gas that those names became common. In the same way, there is nothing mystique or supernatural about the Akwapim area. Their shrine priests wear white kaliko cloth not raffia. Besides, their fetishism does not connote any supernatural wonders except rotating and spinning around uncontrollably. Okomfo from Notsie, now called OkomfovAnokye is similar to this Tetteh Quarshie controversy. He is too powerful to come from Akuapim. Indeed if the Akwapims had supernatural mystique powers, it will still prevail in the area up to today but there is nothing like that. Their funerals and festivals are a procession, no demonstration of any magical or super powers. Therefore, Okomfo Anokye can only come from Volta or Nzema or the northern par of Ghana where the markers still prevail in one form another. For instance at the funeral of the late Ashanti Queen mother in recent past, there was absolutely no show of supermystery except for some musketery and scarecrows painted mud black. It was when the Agbogbomefia got to the funeral grounds that the whole Kumasi got a sense of the funeral of a great woman. Agbogbomefia brought with him the little brothers of Okomfo firi Notsie. The whole Ghana is surrounded by the three-horns of superpowers: Volta to the East, Nzema to the West and some tribes in the North. This is the triangle of spiritual protection to Ghana. Okomfo Anokye could not have come from Akwapim.

My Ga father after a visit to the Ashanti region in 1970, where he met half of his Ga family members who have relocated to the area many years ago, returned to our village, packed our belongings and headed out to Adansi Praso village called Prekesease to go into cocoa farming. There are Ga named villages throughout the Ashanti region especially where we settled, there are villages named after the early Ga settlers who have been in the area for over 120 years ike Otokonor village, Lameleytse village, Oduman village, Ashadeytse village, Nkrankese/ giving to the village by their Fante/Ashanti settler as the biggest Ga settlement village, Nuumo Botoku village etc. So I support the argument that Nuumo Tetteh Quarshie was a pure Ga but where in OSU could one sow cocoa seeds? I am sure he was invited by a family member who might have been living in the Mampong area for a visit, being a smart and agricultural enthusiast tested the cocoa seeds and how they germinated brought joy and he decided to settle and persue his dream to be a cocoa farmer.

You can't blame the president for he learnt from or was taught in school just like any of us including those people. Every Ghanaian who has been to primary school knows that Tetteh Quarshie was an indigene of Akuapim Mampong but not Osu. Let's be fair to ourselves and stop this unnecessary argument as your forefathers even didn't raise a voice against what's in the history books so why now? You may not like the president but he said exactly what's in the public domain. It's laughable for another group of people claiming Okomfo Anokye was from Volta region and I don't where these people are coming from. I won't be surprised if tomorrow we wake up to hear that Dr Kwame Nkrumah was from volta region.
