Borrowing is only for investments. If Nkrumah or Acheampong were to be in charge till now, Ghana would be lending money. They knew you have to invest to make a living.

Long-term mismanagement at the government level, widespread corruption and indiscipline in Ghanaian society the main cause of our problems. We ignore the principles vital for nation building and progress. Look at SINGAPORE. This is a country with a population consisting of at least 3 main RACIAL GROUPS AND DIVERSE CULTURES (not even tribes) yet over the last 60 years they have managed to build a COHESIVE,UNITED nation which is the envy of their neighbors and the world How did they manage to do this?
1.From the 1960s they decided to put emphasize THE RULE OF LAW. The average Singaporean is very law abiding .
2.They developed an excellent work ethic- they are some of the hardest working people on earth. Integrity (honesty) is highly valued.
3.From the very beginning of their foundation as a nation their leaders were held accountable for their actions. Today they remain one of the least corrupt countries in the world.
4.They really value education. Parents will sacrifice everything to give the best education to their children.
5.They built an excellent road, rail network and today they have one of the largest merchant navies in the world in spite of their very tiny size as a country.

I don't think anyone in his or her right mind would assume that covid or the war in Ukraine alone is responsible for our woes. Truthfully though, it has worsened the global situation in the short term. Asia, Africa, Europe, McDonald's, Commodity Traders, Cruise Ships, Hotels and Airlines would admit to the negative impact. Isn't this knowledge SHS 2 Economics?
In the longer term however, it is a host of issues: we're lazy, corrupt, talkative, dishonest, wasteful spenders, good at borrowing to live off today, importers of luxury cars and toothpicks, we collect money for opulent funerals and weddings, pay the rent of MPs and refund their children's school fees, spend our working time on Tik Tok or watching videos on our cellphones, etc. People in Singapore, Malaysia, the US and other advanced civilizations don't sew a new kaba style for every funeral! As we speak, Americans don't have it easier and neither are Greeks. The crunch is biting most low income earners everywhere. My point is that it is NOT true that the effect of covid and the war in Ukraine have had no effect on Ghana or the global economy. They have and for struggling economies like Ghana's, the bite has been deeper.

The politician with corrupt civilian servants knew that without proper data of everything we have as a Ghanaian , eg resources, including our population, proper documentations or data of the informal sectors which is the largest employer in Ghana . They’ll continue to inflate contracts, intentionally delayed the completion of projects, conniving with the civilian or civil servants projects managers in the name of politics to the detriment of the poor Ghanaian. The educated elites hate that both the poor and the rich are able to attend SHS in the top schools in Ghana. While in the developed countries the rich takes their wards to private SHS , here the opposite is true. We continue to play politics with our education of the Ghanaian kids who are the future. JAK says with few universities lets keep the kids in SHS for four years to prevent the rate of unemployment, so that by the time they graduate the will be spaces in the universities to absorb them. Someone , comes and change it to three years. Now these chokes the universities and create huge graduate unemployment and they form associations , the technocrats and the civil servants connive with them to implement this policies to the detriment of ordinary Ghanaian.
No wonder most corrupt civil servants and politicians die under weird circumstances. Most also end up very poor in their old age. They forget that nothing is sweeter than home. You may live in other developed country but you will always be looked down even if you amass wealth.

But lack of communication on the part of the Npp is the problem. Npp does not have good communication skills, and has allowed the Ndc to make the public aware that the Npp has put the country in a deep debt. Whist what they borrowed from Rawlings time to Mahama all is being paid by Akuffo Addo.
