  The "good old days" that this so-called "senior citizen" talks about go farther than 1983, for 1983 is just recent. Unless this citizen meant 1973 and was misquoted, it is obvious that he is lying. The Ghana National Service Scheme goes way back to the 70s. This "senior citizen" claims that he left university in 1983 but he seems to have skipped national service and landed a job immediately, after graduation, with a Volkswagen waiting for him. Those who know better will testify that the era when jobs, cars and bungalows awaited fresh graduates was Nkrumah's time. This senior citizen must have been a beneficiary of political patronage for there are thousands who graduated long before 1983 but didn't have jobs and Volkswagens waiting for them.

  Inaccurate assessment is, at best, an understatement in response to this former Member of Parliament's account of the rosy employment climate in Ghana in 1983. The picture he painted in his interview is, clearly, a hoax, a fabrication, unless, as suggested earlier by one "Dade", he meant a decade previously, in 1973, when I entered University and completed in 1976 with a first degree in Economics (Honours) and had to finish my National Service, prior to departure to Canada and the US for Postgraduate programs, via Scholarships from the Universities in those two nations.
  Even in 1976, while the graduate employment in Ghana was very high and seemingly hustle-free, it was not as rosy as painted or shared by this senior citizen, unless he admits his memory is fading.
