  This is same reason why macdan has a lease at the airport terminal in KIA.
  PEOPLE develop on govt land all the time. This does not seem to be a security matter if you ask me.
  Also recall that Raymond Archer had his big property destroyed by this same trade fair people under the guise of redeveloping it when his lease expired and govt side abruptly refused to renew.
  
  Till date no redevelopment has happened on the land where factories were destroyed.
  Govt was taking rent and tax from them. They had employees. Now no rent, no tax, no jobs and land is barren too

If you have a hotel building on a land with 50byears lease you must deoreciate it over 50 years but if the family belongs to your family and you can own it forever no depreciation. Even with this, the building component must be deoreciated.
  The good news about property, esp when held as investment property is that it's often revaluated. It is the constant revaluation to fair value prices that makes it seem like there is no depreciation but there is.
  In countries like USA where homes are sold and bought daily, you will see some periods when value of houses will drop for few months to years and then go up some period. So revaluation can lead to upward and download values though mostly it's up

This Trade Fair demolition has been in the news for sometime now and I remember how a packaging company was knocked down as well. If all the necessary legal means were exhausted, nothing can stop the rightful owners from taking back their land. In Accra, a piece of land can belong to 30 Families who are all impostors. If the rightful owners had given the land out in accordance with the statutes, no one could demolish the property. With this experience he should know it would have been very and extremely hard for him to grow if others pulled him down like he is behind many other things just like this demolitions. At least, this is the second he has done in similar circumstances. He should be careful as a business person. You had this colossal amount of money to invest and you did it recklessly carelessly. Who sold the land to you? Did you conduct a search? And did the search result indicate that the land was free from all encumbrances thereby giving you title to the land? The fact that you claimed you went for injunction to give you time to relocate tells me you knew you had mo title to the land. You acted foolishly and here you are today. Go back to those you bribed at the Lands Commission and the chiefs for your monies. I hope you have learned the bitterest of lessons. For those who are reading this demolishing, learn from this and be wise. The biggest headache in land acquisition in Ghana is the Lands Commission. They connive and allow these mess to go on after taking their bribes. Then later , the investor loses his investment. Unfortunately past and present governments cared less about these deals and rot at the Lands Commission. All state Lands are vested in the state. And the records at Lands Commission is clear. As long as the government will not prosecute these crooks at the Lands Commission, the rot will go on unabated. Be wise with your investments. Don't be a victim!
