We need objective analysis of the economy and unbiased discussions on solutions.
A wrong diagnose of the challenges in our economy will result in failure to salvage it. We must avoid vague objectives, put forward tangible, clear actions to achieve objectives. Pity those who believe that this 24 hour-economy will succeed to achieve a better life for all. The 24 hour-economy economy is likely to encourage over consumerism and the desire to import more goods. What we urgently need is to embark on agricultural productivity and yield efficiency to ensure food security. This will bring down food inflation and make the country withstand global swings in food prices, usually brought about by geopolitical tensions. More coaching, mentorship and access to market and funding, should be intensified. Making tangible and sustainable impact on the agricultural sector can generate agro- industries. Furthermore, how do we modernize to ensure the country gets the required skills? Revenue mobilisation to finance government projects and cut down foreign borrowing and the burden of debt servicing. What measures can be put in place to ensure good management of the economy, accountability , good leadership, corruption free, leadership, cutting down bloated administration, energy security and limiting politicisation of the the economic policies.. Extreme thirst for political power should not make our political parties to sell idiotic economic ideas which will not take the country forward.

There's a mini 24 hour economy at Oxford Street, Osu a suburb of Accra. It developed in response to demand from tourists, and businesses calculating that there is profit to be made operating during the night. It was not the result of tax incentives. However, government has some role when it comes to big businesses, in terms of things like, the length of afternoon and night shifts, and remuneration of night shift workers so that employers do not exploit employees. Please, ghanaians for once, analyse this proposal carefully before wasting tax revenue trying to promote it.
