The UP stalwarts, RR Amponsah and MK Apaloo, who without provocation precipitated this law by attempting to KILL Kwame as he was leaving for a state visit to India. I am certain the writer was not even born then. Some of us were alive and followed the events and we know the facts and truth.

This is the true story about what happened to Nkrumah.Detention without trial. Nkrumah also started persecuting the chiefs of the Volta Region leading to thousands of the Volta chiefs going into exile in Togo.The Ghana Young pioneers were also indoctrinated by Nkrumah to report even their parents who dared to say anything about Nkrumah. The Volta chiefs could only return from exile from Togo to Ghana when Nkrumah was toppled in 1966.There was jubilation in Togo by these chiefs when they heard that Nkrumah was toppled. I was a witness to this jubilation because I was leaving with my father who was also in exile in Togo. Nkrumah had a good vision for Ghana but his despotic policies brought him down.This is a lesson to despots.

I am not surprised at the guy’s lack of truth. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was approached by Commissioner of Police A R Majitey complaining that criminals were getting bailed when they shouldn’t. And the same criminals were reoffending immediately after bail. Most of the Judges and magistrates at that time were members of the opposition. The opposition was trying to make Ghana ungovernable. Armed robberies, rape , throwing of grenades at public places, the National Liberation Movement under Bafuor Osei Akoto at their woeful best was causing mayhems of killings and destruction of extremely frightening proportions. All orchestrated by the CIA some Western powers and the opposition. It was chaotic and frightening the way the fore-fathers of this present NPP designed . The Commissioner of Police Mr. Majitey requested the power of arrest and detention of criminals to prevent them getting bailed by some sympathetic judges of the opposition. Dr. NKRUMAH referred the request from Majitey to Parliament. It is never true that Dr. Nkrumah created the Preventive Detention Act. Go check out from HANSARD. Luckily A British citizen was the Attorney general and he had a lot of Foreign Agents working for Ghana. A lot of information were passed on to Mr. Geoffrey Bing the Attorney General by his world wide associates. Most of the documents implicating the prominent members of the opposition were destroyed after the overthrow of the president. Was Mr Cameron Duodu arrested? Has Ghana benefited from the overthrow of Nkrumah? What have these opposition leaders and their successors been able to achieve for Ghana? Absolutely Nothing except corruption ,incompetence and massive Thievery of gigantic proportions of Our resources and Money.

I politely disagree with the assertion of Duodu. Doudu is the one the best journalists the country has ever seen, but he reasoning on how Nkrumah caused his overthrow is inaccurate. The American government had from the inception of Ghana's independence come to be earful of Nkrumah and what he stood. The American government did not like the fact the Nkrumah was advocating for African countries and colonies to take their rdestinity into their own hands. And the Americans became more suspicious of Nkrumah, given that thi was during the cold war period with the two most powerful nations butting heads against each other in search of spreading their influence across Africa. Nkrumah had become very close to Russia and China, and this did not sit well with America. The Russians were building airports in Ghana that the Americans suspected were going to be used as bases for Russia. So when the Americans were approached by the elelments of Busia/Danquah Tradition about helping them to overthrow Nkrumah, the Americans saw this as their opportunity to get the Russians and Chinese out of Ghana, for id f not, then the Russians ansd Chinese would spread their influence across Africa froim their base in Ghana. The Americans then started working in ernest with Busia, the elder Akufo-Addo, Wiliam Ofori-Atta and other high ranking members of the Opposition party. The Americans devious misled the world by claiming Nkrumah was a dictator and therefore needed to make way for a new government. The Americans operated out of their embassy in Accra in their clamdestine conspiracy with Busia and his henchmen, till Nkrumah had wind of this conspiracy. The Americans quickly mobed theior operations to the Congo where they had the help of of the ignorant and corrupt Mobutu who the Americans had helped to overthrow Lumumba. From the American embassy in the Congo, the Americans were thenm able run their covet Activities against Nkrumah without fear of him finding out. The Ghana ambassadoer to the Congo was booted out of the Congo specififically for the reason that America diod not want any Ghana dplomat in the Congo get wind of what the clandestine activities being planned there against Nkrumah's overthrow. Eventually, by 1966, the Americans and the Busia/Danquah traitoers had succeeded in getting a mole called Major Afrifa in the Ghana Armed Forces who worked as the main guy to lead the coup.

Nkrumah, encountered his first bomb from the election rejects such as Busia, Danquah, Obestibi Lamptey at his home in Accra New Town in 1955, two years before our independence. In 1956, Baffour Akoto and his bunch of terrorist bombed and terrorised innocent Ghanaians at Kumasi. . They subsequently killed Krobo Edusei"s pregnant sister... All these senseless acts of terrorism prompted the Preventive Detention Act. Those who ended up in prison were terrorist. Why was lying sod Cameron Duodu, not banged up in prison if Nkrumah was imprisoning people willy - nilly? Duodu, thinks, he can pull wool over our eyes simply because his older. No!
