What!!! Are you out of your mind? I could write about the same unprofessionalism at the Ghana Embassy in Washington. The young lady was right. Many of us can relate to that. As soon as you enter the Ghana Embassy, it's like you are in Ghana all over again. Horrific customer service.

As Ghanaians we have had to put up with it all our lives, so we accept mediocrity as okay. Can't do that in this land. Note the embassy does not serve only Ghanaians and such work ethics doesn't project a good image out there.

I applied online, asked to come for my passport. Inside the Embassy made me feel uncomfortable, like I was in Ghana. Later I received the passport and immediately realized there was an error, so I reported it. It was the same guy who received the application. He immediately hanged the blame on my neck, and said I would have to reapply and repay the fees.

When I referred him to the online application, he game me a printout of an old form and refuted the idea I had filled a new one. So I fished into my files and handed over a printout of the new application and saw the shock over his face. I let it out: I want my passport tomorrow, and I am accepting no excuses! 12pm the following day, he called telling me the passport was ready.

In a country in West Africa, I called out an Ambassador who replied to a complain by Ghanaians against certain leaders selling cocaine, that he understood why they were selling cocaine, and it was because the country was hard, as if those elders were forced to live in the country against their will.

Generally, Ghanaians have very unpatriotic, bad, unruly comportment recycled as normal and customary life.

They welcomed u warmly, asked u for your mission, they ll give u a tag or a ticket to wait and when is your turn, they ushered u into their interview room, collect your documents and then when everything is done, they will either mailed u or u go for it yourself! What a u talking about PUNK!!

I didn’t have any issues when I went there but this lady went to collect someone else’s passport for him and u expected the embassy to give her that passport knowing the security implications?

How can you just go there to pick some body's documents without any authorization and expect them to give it to you just like that? All what she said is a lie. I’m not surprised. How about the Ghana Passport Biometrics Enrollment Center in Chicago? I showed up for my appointment only to be told that the agent was not available. In fact she was not around the day before and no other person at the place could help. No email or phone call to let me know that the agent will not be around. I had travelled 2.5 hrs, stayed at a hotel the night prior close to the office so I don’t miss my appointment. In all almost $500 gone to waste. It’s been 2-3 months and todate the office hasn’t reached out to me. When I reached out to the high commission in New York and the embassy in DC, no help. In fact it took multiple calls for me to be able to get someone at the New York office. My interaction with this individual was less than favorable, and she noted this is an issue I had to address with the Chicago office. Mind you, I had already tried to no avail. Interestingly enough, this same lady said the Chicago office is a third party and is not affiliated with the high commission or the DC embassy. What was annoying was that when I applied to renew my passport, the application was through the New York High Commission website where they provided options of places to go have the biometrics done. The closest to me was Chicago as opposed to a 10+ hr drive to New York. Anyways, I emailed the ministry of foreign affairs for help. Till date I haven’t gotten a reply. I guess I’m naive to think these folks will help.
