I’ve been to many Embassies and Consulates. Even when the staff is strict, they don’t act rude! A consular Officer May be unfriendly or unhelpful but they act within protocols. Ghana Missions are not like market places or lorry stations. I don’t believe Yaa Tabby’s stories because her choice of words and narrative is simply a no go for me. With her blonde colored hair and placards, I already have an opinion as to the kind of person she is. Worse, her narrative stinks of arrogance, entitlement and disrespect. I would call in security to walk her out if she can’t comport herself. Too known, attention seeking biaaatch.

Ghana Government Agencies and Institutions are known for one thing: Bureaucracy. So to say they don’t have a way of doing things is an outright joke and a lie. Matter of fact, if it takes two steps at the US Embassy, it could take a dozen at Ghana Embassy. Talk about getting a Passport or a Building Permit, Meter, Driver’s License and you will spend longer time, go through hell because their procedures are too bureaucratic, too cumbersome. Massa, we don’t believe her lies.

If every Ghanaian who has suffered disrespectful treatment at the hands of Ghana's diplomatic staff narrated their stories Ghanaweb would have no space for them. The truth of the matter is that the Consular Sections of all of Ghana's diplomatic missions need a complete overhaul. These sections are filled with people who are a law unto themselves. They have little or no knowledge of diplomatic practices and customer relations. They do not operate within any protocols. They act arbitrarily with no accountability. Some don't answer phone calls and do not acknowledge or respond to email queries. These are some of the people representing Ghana abroad. If it will require a change of government to overhaul the Consular sections then so be it, so that all the arrogant staff can be recalled to Ghana.

They must have a level of education or training appropriate to enable them handle the work they do. The truth is, some of these troublesome visitors to the missions are desperate adurofour, those facing repatriation, some entering the country with fake documents, illegal migrants and koominiini. You’ll meet nkurasefour mu nkurasefour who have no understanding of how the system works and the procedures to follow. That Ashawo Girl with her dyed hair could have gone there to collect a document for her Nigerian BF. It happens so it was proper that the consulate staff check her through and through. She can be pissed, she can blame Akufo-Addo and take her anti government activism to the ICJ. Who is she? You don’t go to a place like an Embassy to tell them how to do their job. Is that the hairstyle she took to the US Embassy in Accra for her visa? Who says how you dress up for a job interview or visa application don’t matter, punk?

You are not running a private business ! The wise thing to do if even you wanted to respond was to be reconciliatory. For e.g. “the Consulte’s attention has been drawn to ….and that you will reach out to the individual concerned to address the issue’. You don’t come to social media in a haste to tell stories as if you are manning a kiosk. What a shame! I am less concerned about the veracity of the lady’s claims, however, the poor handling of the issue gives more credence to various accusations of your distasteful behavior to the public . Shaaaaammee. The MFA ought to recall the Counselor because Ghana has been subjected to ridiculous and laughing stock.
