Let me correct you. They did not take their problems to their gate but wanted to just pass and the navy guys were trying to prevent them from passing. Also we shouldn’t forget that they are celebrating their Festival (Kpelejoo) in their own town where the navy happens to be stationed. Moreover it won’t take anything out of the navy if they were allowed a quiet passage without interference. When the police were there during the day, everything went on smoothly and they weren’t blocking them from passing but the moment the police left, the navy is trying to show power by blocking them from the same road they’ve been using the entire time. Why? Couldn’t they have used other force to bring the situation under control?? I was in that group for a while before joining another group but my little brothers were in that group and are traumatized due to this and keep saying it could have been them dead now from a stray bullet. The navy could have done better. If they can’t even get something little as bring this youth under control without causing unnecessary deaths, why go for peacekeeping in other countries? The right authorities should take immediate action cos these deaths are uncalled for!!!!

The fact is the gate being referenced is actually a barrier the navy put up on the public road in front of the base. The actions of the navy is wrong and the response of the armed forces is very wrong just like they did in Ashaiman.
