  The problem with Nigeria and the government's intervention is simple. Nigeria is a country with a huge wealth inequality gap. When you couple this with the government's infusion of easy dollars into the system which automatically depreciates the Niara making purchasing power of ordinary citizens worse and withdrawal of decades old subsidies, you get an artificial currency stability at the expense of improvements in real sectors of the economy. This is because the easy dollars get hoarded by the rich haves as a hedge against long term depriciation making the have-nots even worse off. My bet, won't be long before the Niara hits a hard free fall.
