  The challenges facing the ECG are the rampant stealing of power in Ghana. Until the ECG invests in the technology to monitor consumption by consumers, their problems will never go away!

  Privatization of ECG would not be a good idea. There are certain structures in developing economies that require the State to guard and ensure they work efficiently for the good of the citizens and the economy in general. Nkrumah (not a supporter of his political ideology) was keenly aware this, hence building key industries. ECG in the hands of a private local/foreign entity would morph into taking over other key energy industries/enterprises which would thereby effectively control and strangle industrial development now/near term/long term. People should pay their electric bills (it is not free), automate bill collection, reduce human contact in turning on/off electricity except technical repairs, hold management accountable for not collecting appropriate electricity bills, resource the ECG, and KEEP politics away for managing ECG because it is a strategic enterprise with national security implications. I guess, people, you know all these things and more, so why don't you do it. Asantehene, ECG is a strategic industry. Privatization of any part of it would be the beginning of retrogressive industrial development. Think deeply (no offense).

  Not when you keep on allowing people to steal and use electricity for free. I live abroad whilst I have a house keeper in my house. I have been chasing the ECG for two years now for a meter without any success. I went to their office and they showed me my file and promised to send a contractor the following day but no one turn up. I called the manager who I met at the office numerous times and he didn’t pick up and we are still chasing till today. THE SAD THING IS I HAVE BEEN USING ELECTRICITY FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS WITHOUT PAYING BECAUSE OF THE INCOMPETENCE OF ECG AND THE ELECTRICITY WAS CONNECTED BY ECG WHEN MY FILE WAS OPENED SO ITS NOT ILLEGAL CONNECTION. I am definitely in favour of privatising ECG to stop this wastage
