It’s sad that a country that has produced some of the greatest blacks in history has reached a point where formerly respected institution like chieftaincy is now being dragged in the mud. People have waited too long for rulers to effect positive change in their lives .People are fed up. Often, revolutions are championed by intellectuals who attain enlightenment by unconventional reasoning arising from unique brilliance. In the case of Ghana, the so called learned ones are content with academic gymnastics. Apparently, they lack the insight shown by thinkers in advanced countries. How is it possible for laymen to understand that societies are developed by a well oiled functioning system, unbeknownst to the class of elite thinkers. SHAME ON YOU!

You’re conflating historical facts. True Bonos are from Techiman and its immediate enclaves. Meaning, the Dormaa’s not truly Bono. It also explains why Berekum is not Bono. Offuman and the towns you mention are indisputably Asantes. They were part of the lands separated by the British after the Sagrenti War as a strategy to weaken the Asante Confederacy, later to include the exile of the Asantehene. Subsequently at the end of the 1940’s, the British set up a commission to agree to modalities for the return of Asante lands. It was intended as part of the reconciliation processes ahead of independence. This spilled into the 1950’s as gaining independence was gaining momentum. As leader of government affairs of the pre-independence legislative council, Nkrumah suggested that to avoid distractions, implementation of the commission’s report should be delayed after independence. However, soon after independence, he created the Mate Korle commission to revisit the already concluded arrangements. Surprisingly, Mate Korle came out with a report that the separated Asante areas don’t want to return to the Asante fold. Using that as excuse, Nkrumah created the Bono and Ahafo region, Sortened to Brong Ahafo or B/A. The misperception has been allowed to fester that every person and town in the geographical area of B/A is Bono. This is what has led to some towns and villages insisting their allegiance is to Manhyia. The conflicts stem from the artificial stools and chieftaincy titles and positions created by Techimanhene in those areas to reward those who would report to him. This is the source of the conflicts, and not to anything created by the Asantehene

According to Banking Consultant, Nana Otuo Acheampong, “Investigation conducted into the source of the money indicated the money did not come from a dodgy deal.”

Nana Acheampong, who has been following the case after the King’s name was mentioned in the case, visited the GhIB in the UK and secured documentation regarding the case.

He told the host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Kojo Yankson that the bank filed a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) after it received an alert on the transaction entered by Mr. Mark Arthur because “the amount that was put in was above” allowable threshold of £250,000.

According to Banking Consultant, Nana Otuo Acheampong, “Investigation conducted into the source of the money indicated the money did not come from a dodgy deal.”

Nana Acheampong, who has been following the case after the King’s name was mentioned in the case, visited the GhIB in the UK and secured documentation regarding the case.

He told the host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Kojo Yankson that the bank filed a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) after it received an alert on the transaction entered by Mr. Mark Arthur because “the amount that was put in was above” allowable threshold of £250,000.

The transaction took place in August 2016.

“When that [SAR] was filed there was nothing the National Crime Office could find because the source [of the money] has been clearly identified. So this wasn’t a money laundering case as if there was dirty money…”

The Banking Consultant stated: “…the fact that the bell has rung does not mean the money is ‘dirty money.”

Nana Otuo Acheampong’s revelations affirm an earlier account given by Joy News sources in Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asante Kingdom when the news first broke.

The source had described as inaccurate, reports suggesting the Asantehene was allegedly involved in money laundering.

Nana Otuo Acheampong explained further that during the tribunal hearing, the GhIB applied for anonymity of the account holder and opted for use of an abbreviation [OT] to represent him but Mr. Arthur opposed this application on the grounds that he conducted the transaction on behalf of the account holder and that it was important to disclose details of the account holder which the judge granted on the grounds of open justice.
