AKUFO-ADDO WAS BORN GREAT, THE PRESIDENCY DIDN’T MAKE HIM!

1. Akufo-Addo’s father was a ceremonial President of Ghana, that position is like the Vice President, but more prominent than that of the Vice President of Ghana.

2. Akuffo Addo’s father and two of his uncles are among the Big Six or the six founding fathers of Ghana.

3.Akufo-Addo is a direct descendant of both the Akuapim and Akyem royals. His father is a king maker of the Addo Dankwa royal dynasty, whilst his mother is a grand daughter of the great King Ofori Atta, the overlord of the Akim Abuakwa people.

4. Aside from all these accolades, Akufo-Addo is over 80 years of age, only few traditional leaders have attained that old age. So It’s totally disrespectful for any traditional leader to keep to their seat while the old man who is also of higher status of the country comes to greet him.

It’s quite prudent to draw the distinction between an old man who is also the President, who according to the Ghanaian cultural practices deserves at least some respect by his subjects including traditional leaders, as compared to Mahama who is much younger than most of the traditional leaders. Of course Mahama can’t do that based on his age, but Akufo-Addo can. This is common sense!

In the video that has gone viral, the Yabonwura refused to stand up to be greated and this irked the emotions of the president to its maximum effect. Not knowing how to control his badly bruised ego, he resorted to breaking protocol by insisting that HIS HELICOPTER had started so he would like to deliver his speech and leave. He was supposed to be the last speaker, after the Yabonwura and the Guest of Honour, according to the program lineup which was known to his own protocol handlers. This attracted hooting and booing from the crowd as he was leaving the durbar grounds without listening to the speeches of the two other eminent personalities. The Gonjas have broken the occultic spell of this despot that demands human blood, even the blood of their own, not to talk of the deliberate orchestration of disasters against the citizenry without any compulsion. In the south of Ghana, all citizens stand on their feet to great a high profile dignity as a matter of culture. The chief in question must have known better ,moreso when he is not overaged, and the event was a public one.
In the north, culture does not require a chief to stand up to greet any personality, especially, someone from the North in or outs the chief's palace.
