Asantehene does not intend to break the agreement of the loan. He wishes to lobby UK government to change their laws to make it possible for Asante to have the items permanently.
The fact that that there is a loan agreement indicates that the British are open to negotiations on this matter. Asantehene is taking and should take advantage of this to do further deals.
My advice would be as follows:
If the British cannot change their laws, the items can be " leased back" to the UK museums at the end of the loan term for annual fees.
A deal like this would "save face".

A typical NPPist , picking and choosing where it suit him. How there you go to Sampa, Tobuodom, and many other places to install chiefs thereby creating problems. The Asante confederacy that made the Asantehene the chairman, is no more and so to be claiming superiority or ownership over those areas is totally rubbish and foolish in the 21st century. the people of these areas must rise and defend their right to self-determination. The Fantes also had that confederacy, but no chief is claiming to be superior to others in the area.
