The subgroups are Aduana Atwea: whose totem is a dog with fire in the mouth (Essumegya),; Aduana Abrade, whose totem is a frog in water and also a lion(Akwamu); and, lastly, Aduana Nyankopasakyi, whose totem is a catfish in a pot found in a waterbody.
The 2 Aduanas: Abrade ( wo mo bo abura: to wit: those whose customs differ in many ways from as .....in Akan 3bo abura...corrupted to abrade with passage of time) and Aduana Nyankopasakyi arrived later when Aduana Atwea had already established herself in Essumegya and Asantemanso.
So, if you claim Dormaa was a blood brother of Akwamu (but did not move from Essumegya to join the latter due to succession dispute as oral history says), then Dormaa is not Atwea but Abrade and thus cannot be the eldest of the Aduana clan.

Our ancestors adopted those symbols for a reason, and though we are all Aduanas, we should honor our ancestors and maintain what they gave us.
