It is fair to suggest that churches must be taxed because the wealth they accumulate is simply too big to go untaxed. Remember, the original idea of tax free churches was that they would use the monies and wealth accumulated to help the poor. These days, they steal from the poor to the rich. They are not doing any good for society. They have made us uneducated and idiots. Ban them if possible.

Bawuliar and all his apologists are desperate. First of all, No NDC member have said anywhere that he is going to tax churches. It is the Business Income and salaries of church workers that are taxed. Even if Bawuliar is advocating for PAYE taxes on salaried church workers be waived I agree partially, but business income of churches to be waived totally does not make sense, considering the fact that most churches operate businesses. Bawuliar and the whole NPP does not make sense these days

Dr Bawumia is out of tune with the reality on the ground. Church revenue is already exempt from tax and so what is he talking about The salaries and allowances of church workers are however taxable.

Interesting how Joy News, my one tone favorite news source has blackout this fine brain simply because he rightly says Bawumia is a better candidate than failed Mahama. That said I think the churches should be regulated ie need to acquire necessary skills either by way of formal education or serve as junior pastors for qualified clergy for a period of time. Like teachers and nurses they need to acquire license to practice or else must pay taxes on whatever amounts they generate whether from the sale of oil and souvenirs as well as the offertory they receive. Churches which do no have track records and do not demonstrate ability to help provide psychological support to their members should be considered and charities and all benefits they accrue must be properly recorded and published.

While no church pays tax, what kind of churches is Bentil referring to when he said churches do a lot of things like education etc. There many one churches that have pastors behaving like millionaires and are not contributing nothing to the country. Can they be fished out for investigation of the source of their incomes. If found out properly they can taxed as individuals but not collectively as a church. Bawumia seem to be creating unnecessary and non-existent headings because he has lost ideas. He wants Mahama to speak so he can have something to speak about and that is not happening. Confused politician like Bawumia.

Churches are not being taxed anywhere in Ghana or have they ever been taxed. Its only the businesses that these churches engages in that are taxed in Ghana just like any other business in Ghana is taxed.
