If you have resources, fight poverty and the money will automatically develop the current city. Secondly, our political class is simply not disciplined or serious enough to manage a project of this magnitude. There is absolutely no need to make comparative analogies with other cities in other countries as each country has its own peculiar set of pros and cons.. A simple and apt reference to how our own once majestic city of Tema has decayed into a horrible mess should put this grandiose proposal to sleep.

Most importantly, a new capital city will do nothing to improve the fortunes of this country when all the reasons that have ganged up to reduce Accra as well as other cities in Ghana to a mess, still remain.

Clearly, he thinks just about votes. Decongesting Accra has nothing to do with ministries and departments. How does your relocating of ministries to another city makes it easier for someone who has to drive through the same traffic situation to that place? By the way how many people live in Accra? It's a problem of poor city planning. Traffic situation can be solved by simply upgrading the road network rather than wasteful application of resources and duplication of efforts. This is another policy which will never see the light of the day if Ghanains fall for this scam. Just ask yourselves how much it takes to create a city from the scratch and where you will get the money to do that. How much will the land alone cost and where will you find the land? I will put this in the same basket with the 24-hour economy.

Mahama is a scammer he should be brought to his senses. The old feasibility study that Nkrumah made suggested that the new Ghana’s capital territory should be built on the Nkawkaw - Kintampo ranges. Because Capital cities are best situated on mountain ranges. Which is why Kintampo was said to have selected by Dr Nkrumah as more conducive for that project, I mean Ghanaians should contact the Ghana geological survey department as well as the land commission of Ghana to ascertain my point. Even former head of state Kutu Acheampong was also said to have started the plan to relocate the capital to the current Bono East region close to Buipe on that side of the Volta River. So how come Mahama wants to replace the Bono East Region with the his Volta Region stronghold? BONO’S SHOULD RISE UP AGAINST MAHAMA’S POLITICALLY DIVISIVE ATTEMPT!

Let's put partisan politics aside and consider this visionary idea. Accra has really become difficult to manage and clean. A new capital elsewhere is not such a bad long-term plan. The selection of a central location near the Volta Lake is a perfect idea. That is the most beautiful location in the country, with all the green hills straddling the scenic lake below. Just imagine how the capital will look like, clean canals everywhere, lakeside hotels and apartments, hillside buildings and all that greenery! Wow! Better air quality, no more flooding since the area is not flat like Accra, stricter town planning to reduce or eliminate formation of slums. Placing the capital close to the intersection of 3 regions will also give a national feel to the place. And it will not be too far from Accra. Just perfect!

With this idea, the only thing we may succeed in doing is to create an Accra Annex instead of building an entirely new city. Is there any sense continuing to concentrate all our development in the South of the country? Certainly, he's scared of the backlash from the Gas with any idea of moving their prized asset away from them. At at the same time, he wants to court Volta and the East.

There's so much space upcountry between the Bono/Bono East and the northern parts of the country around the River Volta that we have no business attempting to create an Accra Annex or New Accra.

If he says so , then it is l8es and he does not understand the work. Again it means workers will be buying fuel to undertake official jobs including him , Mahama.

It means Mahama is going to issue fresh appointment to all government workers including Security agencies.
This guy is a complete liar. As part of Thier condition of service, all Directors and above are given fuel to cushion up Thier pay. This fuel allocation do not even come to them. What is Mahama saying. No public servant will vote for him. He should go away.

He is saying something Which to me is not SMART. If he is saying so, it means, those fuel money is going to be added to workers pay which also means the same thing. Shallow minded man. Is this a policy to dream about.
