They don't want to think of a Ghana like Holland, because that will be their end, the abject poverty which triggers the desperations that leads multitude of persons to their various churches will come to an end, No more buying of their oil, and perfumes, no more big collections, that will be the end. He raised a good point, but seems not to know the reason why people are not thinking of inventions and innovations to help the world like the people in the Netherlands do, but are rather yearning for Netherland passport over a GH PHD, those inventions needs millions of dollars for laboratory researches and buying of raw materials, people like Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison and the rest, all had billionaires sponsoring their researches and inventions. People in Ghana are struggling to have two square meal in a day, if not for wickedness, why will a person even suggest that such people who are always thinking about survival should even think of how they can go to space like their colleagues in Holland do? So those with good functioning brains, hope you understand now why a Ghanaian will rather choose a Holland Passport over a Ghanaian PHD?

A PhD is surely very important. In the same vein not everyone invests in his child's education with the expectation that the child is going to grow up, get a PhD and live a life of just getting by. A PhD doesn't require that the holder should not be interested in money or entrepreneurship. That is a cop out. There are many PhD holders who are successful in the business world and are enjoying considerable wealth. Their PhDs are of not of lesser value than a PhD in the classroom. It has to be understood that contribution to the development of the country with a PhD
does not necessarily exclusively mean research or teaching. Nor is a PhD the sole path to success. However if someone thinks that the acquisition of education is an end in itself that is also fine.

The passport and PhD saga is a metaphorical statement. If all our PhD holders and the so called Professors in Ghana are helping we wouldn't have been here after 67 years of independence. Only Nkrumah used his PhD well ......

There are many citizens in US, Germany, Japan, Netherland etc on the street with passports. Stop the nonsense and respect higher education regardless of the country. Only less than 1.2% of the world's population have Doctoral degrees.
