We don't need need to applaud anyone for that, Ghanaians especially the Gas knows the importance of our kids coming home for our homewo festivities, June through to September have been the normal trend, until the stupid traffic lights system starts kicking in.

So the systems are already there, but corruption and uncertainties surrounding the GES and it's budgeting arm aka the MoE,are the problems.

This is my take.
1. Collocate JHS and SHS buildings like we had in the past(forms 1-5 & 6-7) on the same campus
2. Just rename the secondary school system "High School"
( eliminate the names JHS and SHS )

This is my take.
1. Collocate JHS and SHS buildings like we had in the past(forms 1-5 & 6-7) on the same campus
2. Just rename the secondary school system "High School"
( eliminate the names JHS and SHS )
3. High schools should be completed in 6 years.
4. There must be no entrance examination from primary school to high school. Entrance to HS must be based on student assessment by the primary school teachers assessment board.
5. The only entrance exam required from primary up to tertiary will be the HS certification exam
6. Government need to start building complete high school campuses ( library/IT and science lab,gym, sport fields)

The rollout to the new system must be gradual based on availability of infrastructure.

The proposed system will be more affordable over time, especially since the boarding system will be gradually and aggressively eliminated.

In most parts of the North I am familiar with, we started School with having teachers from other tribes, nowadays it's native teachers throughout the entire whole north, from wa to take, from bawku to the extreme end of the North, 90 percent of current teachers are natives , however 90 percent of primary 5 & 6 even to junior high school cand contruct a meaningful sentence, orals are worse

That is why we are still where we are Rawlings pushed out the stable British school system of O & A level, and introduced the JHS/SHS alternative without proper background investigation. Kuffuor came round and suggested that the 3-year JHS/3-year SHS route ill prepared students for higher study; the universities started complaining about the kind of freshmen they were admitting into their faculties. Kuffuor's suggested SHS be extended for another year! Before the first batch of students had passed through this arrangement, Atta Mills came on the scene and declared: "If and when I come to power, I will reverse SHS to 3 years!" And that came into being without any technical reasons, except to enable kids spend less time at school, being prepared for life on the streets! Meanwhile the first Global Association of Unemployed Graduates was in the offing in Ghana.
We must not rush such an important issue through parliament. The education sector has suffered enough of this ball game! We can wait until the new government is sworn in, then we can come back and revisit the issue. We must know our history before we look into the future!

This is something to be looked into.
We started schooling taught by teachers who were not natives, but today 80 percent of teachers are natives especially in the northern regions , these are also the places of least early development.
Even in the sss schools there pupils who can't construct a sensible sentence, the orals are horrible.
These are facts and can be checked if in doubt or don't agreed with.

Where are the rushed programs Kufour operated like the NHIS, the HIPC toilets, etc? They are dead or are in coma. Look at the fake Free SHS Nana is also operating now. Can't they initiate a national program that will involve all stakeholders who will thoroughly diagnose it before it is implemented? They are just wasting state resources for nothing.

How many models have gone through since the abolition of the 6th form system. Every education minister wants to come out with their own system especially under this useless NPP administration. They change our system arbitrary with notable ones as Jubilee house , Dumsiesie, the current educational system with rotation of the academic cycles where students stay home for over eight weeks. Our educational system must not be decided by one individual. Parliament should set an educational committee to study our system and recommend changes that will be approved by parliament. But to have one person change the educational system is a grave mistake.

After class four you can estimate students levels. Basic School students need at least nine years education. Class five the good ones go middle school. After class ten some go to high school, until class 13 they go college.
