Are Ghanaians not tired of holidays? Uncle Sam has a chunk of holidays but workers who don’t work on some of the holidays. Because of that almost everybody works on such holidays. I think the Independence, New Year, and the IslamId Al Fire should be paid holidays. Perhaps we can take another date as a holiday for all other religions. The Paid Holidays are just too many. Let them be unpaid Holidays and see how many people will want it.

On the 1st of July 1960 GHANA gained the Republican Status. In the subsequent year on 1st July 1961 President Nkrumah declared Ghana a ONE PARTY STATE. Recognising only his party The CPP. as the only legitimate Political Party in ghana.. That constitution which gave birth to the republican status was disbanded in the 1966 Coup. A new Republican Status the 2nd Republic was pulmogated. That also was abolished through a military coup. The 3rd Republican Status brought in Dr Hilla Limamn as President. This also was dethrowned through a Military Coup in 1981. The present 4th Republic Constitution was accepted by the people of Ghana through a Referundum.. Now if we are to bring back 1st July as a Stastutory Public Hoiiday what about the 2nd and the 3rd Republics.This present 4th Repblic was created by the then Chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council PNDC JJ Rawlings . That 4th Republic fell on 7th January 1993. And has recenly been declared a Stastutory Public Holiday. Ghana can only celebrate 1st july as a Historic Commemoration Day .If 1st July should be holiday then the 2nd and 3rd should also be celebrated as such because they were legally constituted.when a Coup overthrows a government it overthrows the Constitution and is NULL & VOID
