What's a lie?

Try finding out from Bank of Ghana how the money Kutu Acheampong ordered printed came short on delivery to the Bank (If there's anyone among the current employees who remember, and IF the bank still have the records to show).

Ignatius Kutu Acheampong had new bills printed including 50 Cedis notes and waiting at the ports for delivery to the BoG. In the interim, Fred Akufo had him arrested and confined for corruption.

Before the money was delivered to the Bank, Fred Akufo and Odartey Wellington stole a huge part of the 50 notes. When the junior officers had wind of it, it sped their eagerness and resolve to remove the interim government, the SMC II, before they started using the 50 Cedis notes which had the potential of driving even more inflation.

When the coup succeeded, the first thing Rawlings and his men did was to immediately block the use of the 50 notes and issued directives for the bank to withdraw its use, because they knew exactly how much money and the serials were missing. Some of the money was retrieved from Odartey's bed room!

Here again everyone blames Kotoka and leaves out the main characters. Ashantis are the most cowards in Ghana. They always hid behind other tribes to commit mayhem and then blame those but themselves. Yes, General Acheampong was great a leader but his friends including General Fred Akuffo including Odartey Lamptey were bad enough.
Without Rawlings coming on the political scene Ghana would have been sold by these NPP folks and would have subjected anyone who isn't an Ashanti or Akyem into slavery again. Look at the times Ghanaian youths and thank God that at every moment when Ghanaians are helpless God sends a liberator to deliver us from those who are bent on taking Ghana hostage. In 1947 it was Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in 1972 it was General Acheampong, in 1979 it was Rawlings; in 1981 it was Rawlings once again and now in 2024 it'll be another sent messenger in John Mahama to deliver Ghana from the hands of another pillaging mafia gangsters elected to rule over Ghana but rather stealing everything put in their care. Rehashing this story has not served it's purpose of creating disaffection for the NDC. The PNDC restored social justice. Before PNDC, Sunyani and the rest of the northern regions were not connected to the National electricity. They were connected to generetors which were shut down at 6pm each day. Rawlings and the PNDC embarked on mass electrification of the Nation. This is a great development under Rawlings led PNDC.

Some people are here talking as if J.J was the first to stage a coup in Ghana. Those days, coup was happening back to back. Even before J.J rose up, there was another group who were planning to stage a coup. The difference was that, the previous coups were being staged by the senior army offices like the Generals and they were just using the Junior ranks to enrich themselves. The generals were using the new recruits and boys begrade to do the duty job. J.J was not the initial coup planner. The Junior ranks were already planning a coup and they needed a leader. J.J was a junior officer and because he was the only officer who respected the new recruits/ Junior ranks, they whispered into his ears to lead them. Boakye Djan and other Junior ranks were all following J.J to his mother's work place to eat because she was a cook at the State House. J.Js family wasn't poor those days like some people wanted to portray. He was feeding many of the Junior ranks so they all loved him. During the revolt, Odartey went to GBC and he managed to kill most of the soldiers there. They later turned against him and chased him to the police station and killed him. Odartey wasn't a saint. J.J saved Ghana. Believe it or not. Some of us were at the Burma Camp. We know what happened.

It was an act of cowardice on his part. So let us tell the true story
