Besides Nkrumah only reenacted it in 58 when several attempts were targeted on his personality from 51 to 56, and afterwards... The enactment of the PDA had no dictatorship connotation except dumb, myopic fools like you would use it as a propaganda against Nkrumah when Nkrumah himself was not even the architect of the PDA...

Only God knows what JB Danquah would have used the PDA for had he had the chance to be the leader of Ghana...

Nkrumah insulted Ashanti, Bono Ahafo and the entire Cocoa farming communities in Ghana with impunity. So what’s wrong if NAPO debases Nkrumah’s legacy? Even at the time Nkrumah was insulting the farmers, calling them womanizers and so on— some of his ministers including John Mahama’s father were marrying several women and making several children. Mahama’s father who was one of most trusted confidants of Kwame Nkrumah married more than 6 wives and fathered over 44 children! Yet Nkrumah never had any qualms with that, but threatened to send the poor farmers to jail because they have asked about price increases ? Why didn’t Nkrumah fire Mahama’s father for marrying several wives and giving birth to dozens of babies?

You see why Nkrumah should never be celebrated? The guy was egomaniac; he also had very bad impressions about Ashantis and other Akans! But he himself was engaged in several out of wedlock relationships; and made children through these relationships! One of such out of wedlock kids he fathered is Nathan Nkrumah whose mother was also an Egyptian.

WHAT A HYPOCRITE! Yet people keep praising the wicked dictator for engaging in such lawless acts! Unbelievable! Now I see why people celebrated his ouster in such a grand style! What has NAPO said that’s so despicable about Nkrumah’s achievements? Was Nkrumah infallible? Why was he deposed?

Kwame Nkrumah is J.B.Danquah's number 1 enemy because they are fighting for the same goal with different approach.
Let's start with struggle of independence and leadership.
After the 2nd World War,the British drafted a new Constitution for the Gold Coast in 1946.
Remember that Danquah is a lawyer and Nkrumah a political animal.
UGCC was formed to challenge some of the weak laws in the Constitution.
Therefore the political climate was reaped for transformation which J.B.Danquah wanted to take advantage.
Danquah as a lawyer and a friend to Caseley Hayford and Paa Grant in Sekondi was in the pole position on legal matters.Danquah also married a Sekondi lady from the Varden family.
Kwame Nkrumah was not interested in the laws, he was focused on the total freedom of the people.
When Nkrumah arrived in 1947 to join UGCC which members were mostly lawyers and rich businessmen,he had no option than to meet workers union leaders.
Fortunately,the Sekondi railway station is situated very close to Paa Grant's residence, making it easy for Nkrumah to contact the Railway Union leaders especially " the strongman Pobee Biney".
While Danquah and others were busy with the Alan Burn's 1946 Constitution reforms,Nkrumah was putting up strategy to get the backing of Railway workers.
At one time,Danquah called Nkrumah a veranda boy because of his meetings with ordinary workers.

Nkrumah gives deep and strong respect to these big men,they were far ahead in many ways.
For example,Paa Grant was called to the colonial parliament in 1926 and Danquah in 1946.
Besides,I can say Nkrumah was the youngest member of the UGCC of which some have already been in parliament.
Now let's ask ourselves why the UGCC decided to call Kwame Nkrumah.Was it because he was young or poor or intelligent?
They called him because of his mass mobilization and tactical organization skills.
Ako Adjei recommended him to the UGCC because they were in the same Lincoln University and also involved in West African Students Union activities in London during the 2nd World War.
The new energy Nkrumah brought onboard was different,he wanted total liberation immediately after the 1948 riot but Danquah and others wanted changes in the executive council for more represention and better positions.
When the Big Six came back from prison,Nkrumah was not allowed to join the Watson Commision which ended in 1949.
Upon all the changes and recommendations,the Colony Secretary in London rejected Danquah's petition for Self Government.
Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP declared Positive Action in January 1950 in Accra,Cape Coast,Sekondi and Tarkwa followed by other places.That means a general strike,boycott and demontrations for 21 days.
Nkrumah was arrested again and election took place with CPP winning majority and demanding independence now.
The British organised another election in 1951 to confirm readiness of independence.
That also went the way CPP wanted,they won massively and a new Constitution was drafted for independence.

On the contrary,Nkrumah is a Marxist,socialist and revolutionalist and better placed at the time to satisfy the needs of the masses.
Kwame Nkrumah was trained in the USA during the 2nd World War.
The 2nd World War was about German conquest and occupation of other countries or people.The rest of the world formed an Alliance to stop them because no country should be allowed to occupy or colonise another country according to the League of Nations treaty.
Freedom is a fundamental right for every human being on earth.
Freedom fighters increased everywhere to demand their rigths.That's why Nkrumah said "the independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it's linked to the total liberation of Africa".

JB Danquah was arrested for the murder of Apadwahene of Akyem Abuakwa. Danquah was a murderer, Ghanaians should understand that JB Danquah was nobody when it comes to Ghana politice or Independence. Which party did JB Danquah formed because JB Danquah was not part of UP (matemehon) party. UP was a unification of smaller parties from Ashanti, the North, Ewa and the Gas. Akyems were not part of UP. When did Danquah became part of UP?, because before the formation of UP Danquah was a disgraced Lawyer even in Akyem Abuakwa for the killing of the Chief (Apadwahene). JB Danquah couldnt win the paliamentary seat in his home town. Busia was not a founding memeber of UP, he was invited to join as their presidential candidate. Ghanaians should read about Ghana history and not fall for this (UP Matemehon) NPP propaganda. UP Matemehon (NPP) has never been a unifier in Ghanaian politice, they are only interested is in the dismantling of Ghana. They will always use liars to decieve Ghanaians to achieve their motives. The UP Matemehon upshoot will always be an Ashanti tribal party because it was established by the Ashanihene. That was the time Kwame Nkrumah was living together with his mother Nyaniba at Kokomlemle, near the Nima gutter.
That assassination attempt by one Awatse and others forced the British to lay the Preventive Detention Act in the Ghana parliament.
Kwame Nkrumah was then a Prime Minister of Ghana and don't have the power to sign an act into a law.
So, it was the Queen of England, then, Queen Elizabeth II, of blessed memory that signed the act into law, and not Kwame Nkrumah.
It is on record that the British were then fighting the Irish Liberation Army. So, the British government had it place the Prevention of Terrorism Act, under which many Northern Irish citizens were arrested and imprisoned without trial for many years.
It will interest you that J.B.Danquah and Obetsebi Lamptey were not imprisoned under the Preventive Detention Act, but were tried and sentenced to prison by His Lordship Edward Akufo-Addo, the father of the current president of Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo, who was then a judge at the High Court of Ghana.

You guys just jumped to give comments without proper understanding of what you read, Kwame Nkrumah arrested JB Danquah, without trial in 1961, without JB Danquah committed any crime and put into prison, because Kwame Nkrumah behaved as a dictatorship when he speak no one dare speak his or her mind, Not only JB Danquah was arrested Kwame Nkrumah arrested a lot of people put them into prison without trial because he knew they didn't commit any crime, the wicknes of Kwame Nkrumah, he wanted to rule Whole Africa but back home in Ghana who ever challenged him is a treat to his dorrminant, JB Danquah saw how Kwame Nkrumah was waisting Ghana finance, Ghana end up going to IMF, British left £6oom only 4 millions at that time, Please don't think Kwame Nkrumah was an angel, and JB Danquah was an evil, infact Nkrumah destroyed Ghana,

Joseph Boachie Danquah and Obetsebi Lamptey were never detained under Preventive Detention Act, but were rather tried and sentenced to life imprisonment for the death and maiming of school children who were members of the Young Pioneers.
The Judge who sentenced them was Justice Edward Akufo-Addo, who later became the ceremonial president of Ghana from 1969 to 1972..
