The World Bank Country Director, Pierre Frank Laporte has revealed that the World Bank had given the Akufo-Addo administration a whopping US$ 560 million for COVID-19, instead of the US$ 100 million popularly quoted by the Finance Ministry.
Mr. Laporte made this revelation in an interview with Accra-based Joy News.

His revelation showed how much of the funds received that were not accounted for by the Akufo-Addo government.

"We’ve provided US$430 million to Ghana to fight COVID-19. And this includes different activities including initially the communication campaign, the sensitization campaign, equipping labs, equipping new facilities to receive patients, to treat patients.”
Additionally, he said Ghana received US$130 million from the World Bank to fund the purchase of vaccines.

Alongside these, the bank has also been undertaking projects targeted at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which are the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

According to Mr. Pierre Laporte the Bank accelerated the disbursement of projects like the Ghana Economic Transformation projects which targeted SMEs in particular. However, in March 2020, the Finance Minister was in Parliament to claim that the government had earmarked US $100 million for the fight against COVID-19 and that the outbreak is estimated to cost Ghana GH¢ 11 billion (some US$ 2 billion). Since then, the Akufo Addo government had secured almost US$ 2 billion as Special Drawing (SDR) facilities from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Last year, a corruption assessment report was prepared by an alliance of anti-corruption organisations called the Community Development Alliance and the Commonwealth Foundation, revealing massive corruption in the disbursement of COVID-19 funds by the Akufo-Addo administration.

Why didn’t Mahama service those ambulances that former President Kufuor brought to Ghana? Where are those ambulances right now? If Mahama had paid to service Kuffor’s Ambulances, there wouldn’t have been any need to buy any new ambulances. By the time Akufo-Addo came to power there’s was less 20 ambulances in the entire country of Ghana. So what happened to Kuffour’s fleet of ambulances. NDC is wicked, they have no prudent ideas to move Ghana except to sit aside a condemn what their opponents have done. You ( NDC) had the opportunity to give Ghanaians the needed ambulances services, but you went and bought those Richard Jakpa Kentengo Kokompe Ambulances which is now the subject of contention at the trial court of Justice. The NDC criminal party is using Okudzeto Ablakwa to attack Ofori Atta for releasing the funds to repair and service the 307+ ambulance that Akufo-Addo imported under the 1 District 1 ambulance program, the program that has since been upgraded to the National Ambulance Services or the Ghana National Paramedics Ambulance Services.

One thing that the rotten sharp teeth Ablakwa doesn’t realize is that building or setting up an ambulance service or paramedics cost so much money that exceeds the average layman’s understanding. The reason only advanced healthcare providing countries are able to implement such a costly program.   But thanks to President Akufo-Addo, a man who spent most of his childhood life in the UK and accustomed to how important it is to set up reliable healthcare services has given Ghanaians the opportunity to enjoy something or services that is only available in the advanced countries, services that only few African countries have in place.   Aside from South Africa and some few other countries in Africa, Ghana has now become a leading providers of first aid response services.

Why now — after 67 years of independence? What the NDC, Okudzeto, and other past governments have refused to divulge to the Ghanaian people is the cost of running or establishing a National Public Paramedics or Ambulance Services. Right now, according to this year’s book value, an average Mercedes Benz Splinter fully equipped type 1 ambulance with defibrillators and other advanced health equipments like the ones we are currently enjoying in Ghana cost about $ 250,000 — $300,000 apiece.   

Ask sekankan Ablakwa if he has any idea about my assertions? He won’t know because he is a local King Kong who has just little exposure in the Western World medical settings. Ofui! He thinks ambulances are like those Aboboyaa tricycles that Mahama and his criminal brothers imported and flooded the Ghanaian streets with.
So why did Richard Jakpa, the NDC military dishonorably discharged officer actually chose to buy those Kentengo non equipped Ford Vans to Ghana with the aim of getting those guys at Kumasi Magazine Artisan community to transform them into a makeshift ambulances?   And how much is Jakpa accused of spending on those Kentengo eyesores of ambulances?

You see: the goon doesn’t understand why Ken Ofori Atta has doled out about $39 million to service and maintain our existing ambulance after they have been in use for more than five years or must’ve ran out of manufacture’s warranty. Does the goon even understand what manufacture’s warranty is ! Kuraasenii Ablakwa!   Does Okudzeto want Ghana to go and buy new ambulances after these current ones go out of services?

Yessss ooo! The NDC and John Bentua Mahama allowed Kufour’s fleet of ambulances to go wasted instead of maintaining them. He made the whole of Ghana believe that he is the source of the exposure when indeed it was the competent Auditor General of Ghana who should be credited. Ablakwa should have clearly stated that he extracted the information from the Auditor's report. This is what he's been doing just to make a name for himself. They are all the same. When given the opportunity they milk the country dry. Don't believe that the other politicians are clean because they have not yet been exposed. Why do they kill to come to power? just to get access to the "booty". NPP has shown its true colors just as NDC did when they were in power. These politicians are nothing but thieves.
