  JB Danqua and company stole the UGCC from their employers, the Indiginous Takoradi Merchants, Paa Grant and RS Blay.
  JB Danquah was retained by the merchants as their Lawyer. He confessed he could not do the job. That led to bringing in the brilliant Ako Adjei, and some of the "Big 5". Paa grant based on the outcome of the court proceedings decided to form a political party to champion their cause. Paa Grant and RS Blay were the chairman and vice chairman of the party formed in Saltpond.

It was through his campaign that Trans Volta Togoland became part of Ghana at the time that Danquah et al were advocating Mate Me Ho. People died in the course of united Ghana. Thanks to leaders like Nana Agyeman Prempeh II who was a close ally of Kwame.

Danquah opposed the idea and advocated that independednt Ghana should be named Akanland. Quite myopic and inward looking.
