The contention between Nana Kobina Gyan and the British was that the good people of Elmina were not aware of the Anglo-Dutch deal.
That also meant that Elmina didn't get anything out of the deal which Asantes were also against and decided to help Nana Kobina Gyan to reclaim the Castle.Tnx.
