  There should be nothing like underrepresented groups in GATE. It will create room for politicians, chiefs etc. to put their children/family in and dilute the whole thing.

  The idea is good. In the UK, for instance it is effectively practised in every school. Class teachers are required to prepare differentiated learning materials to keep such children stretched and challenged.
  However,the policy ought to be implemented in such a way that pupils/students so identified will not eventually end up benefiting other econimies, but the motherland. Because I know extra resources will be channeled into their education, training and well-being. However, most of them will end up providing their knowledge,skills and expertise so acquired to benefit foreign governments and companies, except the few very patriotic ones like Prof Frimpong-Boateng. Its common knowledge that many beneficiaries of government scholarships never return home to contribute to the Ghanaian economy.

We are corrupt to the degree that some people know no shame in promoting their ethnic interest. Hope it is not part of the Agyapadie agenda

  We have seen Free SHS rolled out without the requisite teaching force to keep the children occupied, now another brainwave policy, without a foundation.
  In countries where this GATE is practiced, Children to Teacher ration does not exceed 30:1. Then the teachers can cater well for the exceptional child or two. We have 90:1 or more and talking about GATE implementation. Hmmm!!!

  We have a scholarship system which is meant for brilliant but needy students yet greedy politicians like napo and adjoa Safo took these scholarships to go and study abroad. This is an excellent initiative but I will bet my last pesewa that we shall have a new crop of beneficiaries called GIFTED AND TALENTED POLITICIANS AND PALIMENTARIANS who wii be benefitting from this initiative to the detriment of those it was meant for. VERY, VERY SAD!!!!!
