The Asakyiri clan, also known as the Asakyiri Abusua or Amoakaadefuo, is considered the oldest of the eight Akan clans.

The Asakyiri claim to have been created by God first and are sometimes referred to as the mother of all the Akan families.

However, they are also the smallest of the Akan clans and have relatively few members.

The Asakyiri are located in the Adanse area of the Ashanti Region, with their main towns including Akorokyere, Asakyiri Amansie, Ayaase, Obogu Nkwanta, and Asokore. Their symbol is the vulture and eagle

The Asakyiri clan is considered the oldest Akan family, and some say they founded the Adanse State of Akrokyere in Ghana in the early 17th century. The name Asakyiri means "those who return".

Now is asakyiri is OLDEST of all Akan clans and hence Asakyiri is the AKAN PIESIE and not BONO OYOKO TECHIMAN!

According oral tradition it is believed that the families Asona, Ekuona and Aduana are the oldest among the eight Akan families.

Aside Asakyiri, the other oldest Akan clans are ASONA, EKUONA and ADUANA
