Who built the pitch? How long has it being there?

Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo and even Mauritania all have international standard playing grounds, and it is Ghana only which lacks everything, yet we think we're the best.

When Woyome delayed bankroll the construction of stadiums in Ghana, Kufuor (so-called gentle giant) unilaterally re-awarded the construction to the Chinese circumventing parliament because of kickbacks, ensuing in judgment debt we all know. Meanwhile, awarding the construction of the stadiums to Woyome in the first place, was problematic. He didn't have the funds for it. That's the price of corruption.

Until corruption stops in Ghana, until the judiciary stop being corrupt, until the law enforcement does its job, we're just at the beginning of several fiascos to come.

We are going nowhere unless we change our mentality. We can hire Pep Guardiola, 20 coaches whatever but if we can’t get our house in order we will always fail. The Ghanaian citizen does not know how democracy works, and the leaders are either clueless or deliberately won't educate them. They know that if they keep them stupid, they can continue with their corrupt and selfish ways.

Your stadium is in the state of disrepair because you do not have a tax base and whatever little tax revenue is generated is quickly embezzled for selfish interests. There is nothing left in the budget for services, programs, maintenance and upkeep of infrastructure etc. That is the problem or at least part of the problem. The citizens do not want to pay their taxes. They want everything for free and yet complain that things don’t work. That’s not how a functioning democracy works.

Secondly our expectations are too high. These days any Joe Sixpack can kick a ball. We need to wake up. The game has grown and evolved. The gap between the traditional soccer powers and the emerging soccer nations is small and, in some cases, nonexistent, therefore now the things you do off the pitch, such as, the administration of the game, farming developing and supporting talent are critical. The planning and preparation, investing in the proper infrastructure are even more important than ever before because the game itself, now everyone can play, so we no longer have a competitive advantage. You gain a competitive advantage by succeeding off the pitch and that will eventually translate onto the pitch. The finer details of the game is where we are failing.

The Baba Yara stadium has witnessed fan vandalism on several occasions. I don't think the hooligans are apprehended and punished, so we always see the reoccurrence of their hooliganism.
