Personally I think all Grade A schools like Legon Presec,Wesley Girls,Accra Aca,Achimota etc shd be taken out of FSHS.They shd be made autonomous and students made to pay FULL FEES.I insist on full fees bcoz I want parents of students ask to pay for every expenditure on their wards in those schools.Ghana govt shd not subsidise any cost that is teaching fees,text books,furniture,food.In effect Ghana govt shd take the names of staff of those schools from Govt Payroll.Students of those schools fees shd be like GIS & AIS.

Akufo-Addo’s suggestion for people to send their children to private schools is a slap on the face of Ghanaians. A president is supposed to defend the state and its institutions. If he has done well to strengthen these institutions funded by the tax payer, we would have had good schools. His suggestion means he is recognising that public schools are a failure. That’s a slap on our face.

Most of them have their children in private schools but when the program was launched, they withdrew their children into the government schools then later making silly criticisms.

These critics should take their children out from the government schools back into the private schools and pay whatever fees they can because the government schools are free for the needy.

The same hypocrisy is all over the scholarship program. The rich are those whose children easily get that program so what does that mean?

FSHS has come to stay and as the president said, if you can afford to pay fees take your wards to a private school. Isn't that what happens in UK where you are?

How has this so called Free SHS boosted the economy? Ghanaians should demand answers of the impact of spending so much money and how the economy has benefitted from this policy. What is the use of going to school and becoming unemployed? Where are the figures? If these same amount of money were used to set up industries for these children to work in, wouldn't this have reduced the rate of unemployment? The skills gained in these industries could even assist some of these children to become entrepreneurs. Look at Kwame Despite, which school did he attend? Free SHS is a failed policy, stop trumpeting this and reform it.

Get down from your high horse and swallow your useless pride and admit that you have failed with the only thing you pride your government in and call for a round table dialogue with teacher unions, CHASS, parents, students and other think tanks and seek help for a better roadmap towards a better education for the future of this nation.
