  Small scale mining is destroying our forest reserves farmlands and water bodies and it must be stopped in Ghana. Ghana can't continue like this anymore where everyone in the country is engaged in small scale mining. Why is the Minister not asking the small scale miners to reclaim the lands and forest reserves they have destroyed.. Why is the Minister not talking about land reclamation in degraded forest reserves in the country?

  How can you grant 1500 mining license in 8 years and not expect this disaster?? Do u have enough personnel to police all of these mining companies you are granting licenses to left and right?

  Mining shld hv nt been given to individuals 4 no reason. Since tht idea came around we hv never hard peace .Mining is a serious business nt 4 unqualified ppl

  We can drink water to live without gold as a nation but we can't use gold to live without water.

  I DISAGREE, SMALL SCALE MINING IS A CRIMINAL VENTURE
  It is clear to all good thinkers in Ghana that all manner of mining activities that are not properly regulated have contributed to the destruction of our water bodies and our forests.
  It is sad that those who are benefiting from mining do not care about the monumental destruction of the environment. The small scale miners are surly part and parcel of the galamsey mining. Who has been monitoring the activities of small scale miners in Ghana? Our country has been reduced to a lawless country where people act anyhow with impunity.
  The interim measure of curtailing the destruction of the environment through mining is to halt all mining activities by individuals until things are put in place to sanitise mining in Ghana.

  Only a clueless government will issue licenses to small scale miners and not take any steps to ensure that these small scale miners aren't polluting rivers. The answer is not to ban small scale mining but rather to ensure that rules and laws governing mining operations are strictly enforced in order to protect Ghana's lands and rivers.
