No one can stampede the next president by issuing a ban that has effect for only 2 months!
Bawumia[most likely] or Mahama [unlikely] will issue the way forward on galamsey' sustainability and alternative livelihood on 9th December 2024, during the victory speech.
For now, the galamsey operators should apply their conscience!!

The current environmental and health situation in Ghana is proof that the so-called "legal" small scale mining is not being properly regulated and therefore NOT WORKING. So, Akuffo-Addo should declare a state of emergency and REMOVE/Cancel the Legislative Instruments (LIs) he signed into law a few years ago that labels indiscriminate ravaging of Ghana's forest and water bodies as "legal" mining sites. That is irresponsible. The LIs has taken the POISONING of Ghana's lands and water bodies to a whole new level and removing the LIs and shutting those "galamesey" and small scale mining sites will be the right thing to do. That is what is relevant here.
