Unlike civil servants who connivw with birth and deaths and SSNIT to reduce their age the military discipline will not allow such nefarious activities. Just look at public sectors workers demonstrating, and you can easily see some are above 70. Leave the military alone. And leave the president to serve his last two months taking his decisions according to his mandate.

There are different set of laws governing these institutions and you shouldn't be comparing apples and oranges. The lecturers are two extensions of five years each after retirement, and that's in their statute books.

Back to my point: it is no coincidence that these top military officials are being kept in office despite passing their retirement age. They are bought and paid for. Perhaps they have something to do with why Akuffo Addo is still office, having ran the country to the ground.

I don't care for the NDC either as both parties are responsible for the sorry state of Ghana. We need a reset via military takeover.

I have posted on these pages many times that Rawlings killed a relative of mine in his revolution. My relative was part of the erstwhile supreme military council. Let me leave it at that. For years, I harbored deep hatred for Rawlings. That is no more because 1) he is dead. 2) The corruption that marked Rawlings' time in office is ordinary compared to what I see of the NDC and NPP.

My thinking is simple: Our political choices are now binary, between the NDC and NPP. These parties take turns robbing the country. Mahama's last tenure was deemed the most corrupt. The reason why many want him back is because the NPP has outdone the NDC in the area of corruption. What does it say about a whole country when people yearn for the comeback of a party not because it advanced the interest of the country but because, in hindsight, its corruption is "better" than another party's?

I don't care for the NDC and NPP. One rapes the country, and the other takes over, that also rapes the country to make way for the other party. These crooks don't use our healthcare system. We subsidize them to seek help elsewhere. What incentives do they have to make our healthcare system better for all when we pay for them to be treated in the West? They open offshore accounts to siphon off monies coming to the country. Do I need to go on?

So, what if I'm advocating for military takeover? At least when these NPP and NDC crooks are in power, they'll know to do the right things because there's another catastrophic option if they misbehave.

1. Lecturers who retire at the mandatory 60 years at the rank of LECTURER are not given any contract appointment.

2. Those who retire at tye rank of SENIOR LECTURER may be offered a contract appointment up to the age of 65 years provided the academic department still needs tye services of such lecturers, and also under certain conditions.

3. Lecturers who retire at the PROFESSORIAL (Associate and Full Professors) rank ma be given up to 10 years contract appointment if the academic unit needs the services of such lecturers, and also under certain conditions.

So the lecturer are given contract appointment based on the needs of the academic unit, and the application is made by the unit, not the lecturer. This arrangements have been put in place as a result of the lack of interest shown by the young ones to join the Academia, coupled with the fact that the student numbers are increasing by the year. Also many qualified people don't want to jo8n Academia because they think they will struggle to secure funds for research, let alone getting their research findings published. Many people are also discouraged by the relatively low salary compared with what they will get in the industry, not in the public sector (which is even worse) but rather in thre private sector. There are many other reasons that do not attract people into Academia, hence the post retirement contract appointment offered to certain retired academics yo salvage the situation.

So do not say what you don't know to deceive the public.

The regime is very selective in who their choice for appointment, promotion, career development courses, transfers etc in the public sector institutions including the key security services. I remember Lt Gen Akwa was appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS) by Former President Mahama knowing very well his political leanings (NPP). Over the dead body of Akufo-Addo to do that. I state emphatically, if NPP even gets 40% in the next Presidential elections, then we Ghanaians deserve whatever shabby treatment and contempt we get from politicians.

There is serious favouritism going on in the Armed Forces, I was called for an interview 6 months to my 57th birthday and was retired at exactly 57 years as a Colonel without any extension, meanwhile there were other Colonels who are older than me and they were still serving. I was later told by one senior officer that they were finding it difficult to know where I belong ie NDC or NPP. I had already done my estimates(appreciation) towards my retirement and fully prepared so it didn't bother me a bit. Now people who committed serious offences in the Army when the were younger are promoted Brig Gen and above just because they are card bearing members of the NPP. While the Navy and the Airforce are managing their personnel, the Army is using partisan politics to victimise those they perceived to be their enemies.
