It is only the Asantehene, Yaa Naa, Bawku Naaba, and the overload of the Mamprusi who can end this conflict. The sad fact is that politicians are cashing on the conflict for votes while people are dying.

This Bawku conflict did not start now. It has gone on for more than half of a century. I remember in the early sixties, the Bawku war raged on and many Southerners working there fled back home. Many people from Bawku and it’s environs fled to the South and many became KAYAYO people. What is wrong with my people from the area? Are they Humans? All they understand is violence. Let them fight and flee to the South because we need more laborers for our Cocoa farms and some more KAYAKAYA people. Keep on fighting each other and you shall always be subservient to the Southerners, particularly the Asante and the Akyem people.

The PNDC Decree which imposed Anichema Abugrago as the political chief of Bawku was repealed four clear years before the late J J Rawlings left office in 2000. So which law could the supreme court base on to pass judgement again in 2003 when the case to it was brought before it? The only supreme court ruling on that case effectively told Abugrago that look, you are no longer a chief and you are occupying the position illegally, give way to the rightful occupants to execute their mandated job of ruling the place.

I strongly believe the politicians don't want the conflict to end because it is providing funds for political party activities. So they have succeeded in dividing the people in that area into NDC and NPP combatants.
Untill the chiefs, prominent and all citizens from that area see this , there is no way the conflict will end. Those making money from the conflict don't want the conflict to end.
