Those who are suggesting to keep the free education system have not told us what the real benefits are. If you want to assess the programme, the best place to look is the end product of it, that is the quality of students who complete their education. Ghana’s educational standard is one of the worst in the world (google it), and I have met even graduates who struggle to understand basic principles. Free education is bad for the country because education itself needs serious investments. If we use the little money to feed students, where are the investments coming from? We are simply eating our eggs and still expect to have chicken. Use the free education money to equip our schools, retrain our teachers and redesign our curriculum to meet the demands of the country. Schools are places to educate people and not to eat. Cancel the system and put more money in education.

Every Ghanaian child deserves some minimum level of education. At least senior high school level is critical for the child to begin to gain a better understanding of his/her environment. We can't have a nation where thousands of the citizens particularly the young ones aren't educated mainly because of financial constraints. FSHS is a major game changer for this country in the very near future. Long after Nana Addo leaves power or passes away to eternity we would appreciate his boldness in implementing FSHS.

Free education without the necessary investment in equipping our schools, retraining of teachers and a curriculum designed to help children think and act and solve basic problems is bound to fail. Times are hard but parents will be willing to pay a bit more for quality education. At the moment, education is still very expensive but parents pay the money to the wrong people, unqualified teachers and schools.

No government can cancel FSHS, but NDC will mess it up big time just like everything else they touch. NDC has itself to blame for voters' mistrust against NDC as far as FSHS is concerned. The party's vehement opposition against FSHS over the years since it was first raised by Nana Addo and NPP makes it difficult for any discerning Ghanaian to trust them with the policy that continues to benefit virtually every family in Ghana. The general thinking is that since NDC knows very well that cancelling FSHS is politically suicidal for them, they'll would take a half-hearted approach to its continued implementation. This approach will be to give a dog a bad name and hang it eventually. Wish you guys good luck as far as FSHS is concerned.

It is not true. I paid school fees in the middle school from 1960-1961. The Common Entrance Exam was not free. I also paid tuition and boarding fees in the 1961/62 academic year and boarding fees from 1962 to 1966.

FSHS is a good policy but I tell you this government got the implementation upside down. They can’t even cut and paste properly. In the UK you pay for boarding it’s ONLY the day Schools that are free. Students board public transport for free upon showing their ID cards to the conductor.
Also, there are lot of community schools within to accommodate the students because data is available to plan and expand.

Now, this government is behaving like we owe them for using our taxpayers money to delay that our children/wards/siblings can go school for free. There are cases where 13yr olds are placed out of their districts to far away regions and are expected to rent. Does that make sense ??

By the way, this is the deal. THEY'VE THROW A BONE AT YOU BY WAY OF FSHS JUST TO TAKE YOU MINDS OFF THE MEAT. They’re enjoying and you are just happy because your ward is going to school just for 3yrs for free without even assessing the quality whilst they amass the wealth. Wake up!
