The Dollar rates and the exchange rates of other major currencies are never stagnant, the rates fluctuates. It depends on the market and the demand. How come you people are so daft? Is it naivety or just stupidity?

In 2020 the dollar rate appreciated against our GHC during the few months running up to the December elections. Then NDC made some noise about it. Then it held study after the elections even though we were still in the pandemic. Then the rate shot up steadily again after the pandemic stated abasing and importers started importing again. Then shortly after that in 2022 the cedi started gaining momentum until the end of last year when our currency started losing the momentum again. Do some research about what I’m saying.

The cedi loses its strength every year from August to December. Go and ask every expert, or the forex Bureaux operators. They are very abreast with how the exchange rates function at various times of the year .

There are different reasons that drives the performance of the exchange rates .

THESE ARE SOME OF THE REASONS THAT DETERMINES THE EXCHANGE RATES MARKETS ESPECIALLY IN DECEMBER.

1. December most Ghanaian immigrants abroad start coming home for the Christmas holidays, so the dollar demands and performance dwindles significantly because of the availability of the green notes.

2. Importers don’t import much in December because their imports will be too late to clear for the Christmas season sales boom. Normally imports take about five to six weeks the minimum to arrive at the port, except air cargoes.

3. Traveling to the Western Hemisphere itself in the winter season is normally not conducive for Africans especially Ghanaians and for that matter the demand for the dollar is lower than the summer traveling season.

There are many other factors. But these are some of the major ones as far I’m concerned.

So Kwakye should be ashamed of himself for stooping so low and acting like a layman!

The exchange rates held study after the elections even though we were still in the pandemic. Then the rates shot up steadily again against the GHC. after the pandemic stated abasing and importers started importing again in 2021

Don’t you remember that in 2022 the cedi started gaining some momentum to the extent the dollar rate depreciated to $ 1 to GHC 10.50 from GHC 16 in December 2021. The cedi did good for the entire 2022 until the end of last year when our currency started losing the momentum again.

Do some research about what I’m saying.   The cedi loses its strength significantly every year from August to December. Go and ask every expert, or the forex Bureaux operators.
