Generally speaking, most Ghanaian lawyers and judges are per se illiterate.

The requirement for unanimity applies only to a guilty verdict. That is to say that where the verdict is not unanimous, as in this case, the defendant should go free and the jury discharged. A discharged jury is different from a hung jury. A jury is discharged after a verdict is arrived at. A hung jury cannot take a decision and is therefore dismissed. And a case may be retried only after a hung jury.

A unanimous verdict of guilt is required in all criminal trials, or else the defendant goes free.

This judge is illiterate in criminal law, and this anomaly should be cured in the next 24 hours.

The defendant should be released as soon as possible.

The events of this ties in with the alleged sexy Don Don initial confession on the recording circulated on social media that the NPP persons who hired him to kill JB promised him many things including assisting him to walk free.

This is a total shame. If such a prominent personality like an MP could be brutally murdered and a so-called court of competent jurisdiction would take 8 long years to complete the trial of his murderer after which they would be so confused as to turnout a 4-3 verdict in his favour as not guilty, then something is seriously wrong somewhere. Contrast that with a political trial in which a petition was sent to the highest court of the land in the morning of a particular day and the court came out the afternoon of the same day with a 7-0 verdict in favour of the government. State officials who find themselves churning out these dramas, don't they feel ashamed?
Ghana is totally rotten and needs a resetting.
