He cannot be remained. There is the need to balance power. The president represents the north, the veep represents the akan group. The speaker must come from outside these two blocks, either Ewe or Ga, but an Ewe will be better to keep the base of the party deeply inclusive. Also, Bagbin has no respect for Mahama and the leadership of the party. He will want to dictate the pace of decision making in parliament. It is not an entitlement. He should also rest before dying. How would you the chiefs feel if you were in the shoes of the other divide? You love your son but let fairness prevail.

Do you know the significant role Bagbin played in taking the fight to the NPP in parliament?
Have you forgotten that he appointed Asiedu Nketia to the Parliamentary Service Board to the chagrin of the NPP. Thereby giving Asiedu Nketia an eye into activities in Parliament?
Have you forgotten that he appointed Kofi Attoh, former Ho Central MP as his Chief of Staff in Parliament?
Have you forgottthat he appointed Shaibu Mahama former NDC MP for Daboya-Mankarigu constituency as an administrator in his office? Thankfully Shaibu has regained his seat in the 2024 elections.
Speaker Bagbin virtually created an NDC centre of power in Parliament. His office was a mini NDC headquarters.A lot of NDC people were offered jobs in his office, in the face of stiff opposition from the NPP.
No wonder NPP stalwarts like Haruna Mohamed, NPP Deputy General Secretary, want him out of the Speaker's Office. NDC should be careful when your enemies suddenly become your advisors.
Bagbin has played his part in returning the NDC back to power. It would be unwise not to maintain him as Speaker.
"A word to the wise", as some say, "is in the North".
