How many Ghanaians had gone to play professional football outside Ghana and have return in those days? Mfume had just gone and nobody knows what will happened to him? These were some of the things he probably must be thinking about. Dont think its was an easy decision to take like these days you have tons of examples to follow.

Pele was not the first Brzilian to play professional football in USA so he had more examples and more people to advise or encourage him to go.   My mother after retirement as a Nurse from Korlebu went to help my sister with babysitting in London. After 5years my sister got her her residence permit and British citizen aftet 10yrs.
  
  At 90yrs she can still chew bones because the British NHS fixed her with a £5000 Rolls Royce new set of teeth. She comes to Ghana and munches on "wele" as well.
  
  The British govt gives her £2000 a month pension, free healthcare along with free apartment. She still gets her Korlebu Nursing Pension.
  
  When you get the opportunity please take it.

  Osei your story is nice however there are three things I want to correct. 1 George Best was an Irish not English.2 The Asantehene at that time was Prempeh the 2nd and 3 Kuffour's house/mansion is at Nshieso not Atonsu.

  He wasn't even part of the Blackstars team that played at the 1970 AFCON in Sudan.
  He wasn't a starter at Kotoko when they won the African cup in 1970.

  It is time to stop regurgitation of this dead story. Looking at what today's footballers are earning in Europe, perhaps he is full of regrets for allowing feat and uncertainty to take the better of him in those days.

  It was Essel Mensah who replaced Robert Mensah not Botwe. In a different episode Osei Kofi said that it was the Sumankwaahene who said that one of them would die not the linguist. Sumankwaahene is the head of spiritual matters at the Asantehene' s palace.
  People should not forget that in those days, players like Osei Kofi were handsomely rewarded by Kotoko, Black Stars and the fans and did have employment mostly provided by the government apart from their football career.
